R/GA head of growth APAC and acting executive creative director Calvin Soh (pictured) has left the agency on sabbatical. Speaking to Marketing exclusively, Soh said he has started a consultancy called One Kind Ideas to collaborate with any agency or client during his sabbatical. Currently, he has began work with World Toilet Organisation, Equal-Ark and Transgender.org.
He first joined R/GA in 2017 as acting executive creative director, and was elevated to head of growth APAC a year later. In this two years, Soh said that the agency has pivoted from a pure play communications agency to consulting work. As head of growth, Soh was instrumental in bagging new clients for RGA. These include Singlife, Schroders, Ascendas and UOB among others. He has also established a vision revolving around exponential change and experimenting with different work processes and innovation projects with clients such as SUTD.
Recently, R/GA also clinched awards at Marketing's Agency of the Year categories for brand consultancy, experiential marketing and mobile marketing.
Soh said: "I'm leaving so I have more time with my 13 year old daughter who is launching her jewellery collection. We all talk about transforming businesses. But shouldn't we transform our families too? I've learnt a lot from that and the principles are the same. The only difference is you can't fire the kids."
