Global socially-led creative agency We Are Social has named Kathy Wong (pictured) as general manager for Hong Kong, succeeding Donald Wong, who has left Hong Kong to explore opportunities in the US.
Within her new role, Wong will report to We Are Social’s CEO for North Asia, Pete Lin.
Wong, who will oversee both We Are Social Hong Kong and the creative agency Metta/We Are Social, joins from creative agency RollRollRoll, where she was business director. At We Are Social, Wong will manage a team of 20 people, working with a client roster that includes Keetah, Abbott, GEOX and Alipay.
Wong brings more than 18 years of experience to the role having previously held roles at Ogilvy, TBWA, and FCB. Early in her career, she worked for Metta Communications, which was acquired by We Are Social in 2022 to become Metta/We Are Social. Her client history includes Hong Kong Disneyland, Barclays Capital, Mercedes Benz, L’Oreal Travel Retail, and many other global brands.
Throughout her career, Wong has served brands ranging from FMCG and luxury goods to financial services in Hong Kong, as well as having client-side experience at Estée Lauder Companies and CÉ LA VI Hong Kong.
Wong said: “I am thrilled to join the We Are Social team in Hong Kong, and to rejoin Metta where I have many great memories. I look forward to drawing on my experience in both agency and client-side roles to continue to help We Are Social’s clients excel creatively and strategically. I am excited to expand the team at We Are Social, drive the digital discipline in Hong Kong forward, and serve the digital marketing demands of both local and international clients.”
Lin added: “We’re delighted that Wong has chosen to join the team at We Are Social. She’s a first-class communicator with an unrivalled reputation in the Hong Kong advertising world, and there’s no better person to take our growing team to the next level.”
