Wavemaker China’s CEO Jose Campon (pictured right) is departing after four years to pursue new challenges and start a new journey in 2025, as confirmed to MARKETING-INTERACTIVE.
Campon joined Wavemaker in 2021 from Dentsu where he was APAC client president. He was onboarded by former Wavemaker CEO for APAC, Gordan Domlija, who left GroupM China in January 2023.
Campon has over 20 years of media and marketing experience, having previously held senior roles at iProspect and spent nearly four years at Google before joining Wavemaker. Campon’s successor has not been identified yet.
On the other hand, GroupM has confirmed the promotion of Jerman Zhang (pictured left) to president of Nexus for China, where he is responsible for overseeing and growing the group’s capabilities of search, PPS, commerce, social, and platform ISV.
Zhang first joined GroupM in 2013 and was previously GroupM’s chief commerce officer in China.
In addition, Austin Winters (pictured middle) has been appointed as president of Choreograph in China, leading the newly unified organisation that brings together media products, digital, data analytics and science, consulting, and enablement.
Both Winters and Zhang will sit on GroupM’s executive committee in China, reporting directly to Rupert McPetrie, GroupM CEO in China.
These appointments are part of the agency's ongoing global business transformation programme to unify teams and capabilities across the business and provide more integrated, agile, and effective solutions to clients.
