WPP's MediaCom UK has appointed Susana Tsui (pictured) as its chief growth officer. She was formerly business transformation consultant at Cambridge Creative and president at Tatler Asia Group. During her time with Tatler, Tsui was involved in transforming the media brand into a "data-informed, digitally enabled, bespoke experiential content company", her LinkedIn stated. She also developed Tatler's eCommerce platforms - Tatler Curates, The Tatler Bar and Tatler Style.

Prior to that, Tsui was media and community CEO at theAsianparent and, before that, was group CEO at dentsu China. At dentsu, she was responsible for spearheading the design and implementation of the group’s transformation strategy. According to her LinkedIn, Tsui also built and designed a data-fuelled, automated planning platform that integrates brand planning, creative strategy, media and audience planning and optimisation

Tsui had previously worked with WPP for close to 12 years, last helming the role of APAC COO for Ogilvy. According to her LinkedIn, Tsui was responsible for M&A and partnerships, digital transformation, and the integration of creative, media and data practice across the Group.

Meanwhile, MediaCom promoted its regional chief product officer Josh Gallagher to the newly created role of APAC chief operating office in February. According to the agency then, the role was designed to provide additional senior support for the network’s teams and enhanced leadership to clients. Also, the decision to create this role by newly appointed APAC CEO Rupert McPetrie reflects the extraordinary growth the agency has experienced over the last year. His brief for the new role will be to ensure that MediaCom builds on the business momentum by scaling the agency’s capabilities, through MediaCom’s distinctive and differentiated offering of Seeing The Bigger Picture, and by consistently delivering for the agency’s clients across the region.

Separately, WPP’s GroupM said last month that it will be merging Essence with MediaCom to form EssenceMediacom, a new agency offering fusing the digital and data-driven DNA of Essence with MediaCom’s scaled multichannel audience planning and strategic media expertise. According to WPP then, the new entity will be “designed to power client growth globally with an agile response to a rapidly evolving media landscape". Nick Lawson, global CEO of Mediacom, will lead the newly formed EssenceMediacom as global CEO. Meanwhile, Kyoko Matsushita, global CEO of Essence, will be taking on the role of WPP Japan CEO to aid the company in investing and expanding, high-growth markets.
