MediaCom has promoted its regional chief product officer Josh Gallagher to the newly created role of APAC chief operating officer. According to the agency, the role was designed to provide additional senior support for the network’s teams and enhanced leadership to clients. Also, the decision to create this role by newly appointed APAC CEO Rupert McPetrie reflects the extraordinary growth the agency has experienced over the last year.

His brief for the new role will be to ensure that MediaCom builds on the business momentum by scaling the agency’s capabilities, through MediaCom’s distinctive and differentiated offering of Seeing The Bigger Picture, and by consistently delivering for the agency’s clients across the region.

“I look forward to bringing a forward-thinking and challenging mindset to the role, helping our people and clients continually grow. My focus will be on driving the culture to do so. In an industry that is ever-changing, being able evolve the way we work through more agile talent and technology capabilities will deliver work that transforms our clients’ businesses,” said Gallagher (pictured).

Gallagher joined the GroupM network in 2018 from Havas where he was APAC chief strategy officer. As the agency’s product suite and capabilities have grown, MediaCom said Gallagher has been a driving force across performance and eCommerce and has led the Global Commerce Consulting offering within BLINK Consulting.

McPetrie said: “It’s always fantastic when you can look inside your organisation and find someone who is perfect for the most senior roles." According to him, Gallagher has done a terrific job building new capabilities and products for MediaCom's clients over the last three years and has also played a significant role in its new business successes, including the recent wins of Bayer and The Coca-Cola Company. "He will be an amazing COO for our region and will help MediaCom continue its successful trajectory,” McPetrie said. McPetrie was appointed to his new role after Mark Heap left to join Mindshare EMEA as CEO last month.

Mars recently reappointed MediaCom to handle global media duties, alongside Essence which will manage biddable media. The contract runs until the end of 2025. Last November, The Coca-Cola Company appointed WPP as its global marketing network partner. The bespoke, integrated team OpenX has been briefed to become a catalyst for the transformation of Coca-Cola’s marketing effectiveness and efficiency.

Additionally, in September of last year, Bayer consolidated global media planning and buying with MediaCom. The agency has been tasked to drive Bayer’s modernised marketing strategy, with best-in-class data and content integration as a key driver for business growth.
