Senior director, brand marketing and corporate communications for Asia Pacific, Roger Pua will be leaving LinkedIn after serving the company for more than seven years. Pua posted on LinkedIn his decision to take a career break and also added that in the seven years at LinkedIn, its member base in APAC grew five times to 185 million.

Pua first joined LinkedIn in 2013 as director, corporate communications for APAC and China. He was promoted a year later, and was also subsequently handed the brand marketing remit. Working with the brand marketing and communications team, Pua was in-charge of driving integrated initiatives across multiple disciples, from marketing to external and internal communications and social impact.

Pua was previously at Nielsen as its vice president of global communications and marketing, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. He was tasked to oversee the communications and marketing team, and was involved in the development of content and position the company as a thought leader in key industries and practices.

Prior to that, he held the role of vice president and head of communications, Asia Pacific at GE Capital for over two years. According to his LinkedIn, Pua was appointed to lead APAC communications for GE Capital after GE reorganised its consumer financial services businesses (including GE Money) under GE Capital. He also said his key achievements at GE Money include managing the communications strategy for the SG$5.4 billion sale of its consumer finance business in Japan to Shinsei Bank in late 2008, and the launch of GE Money Shopping Card in Indonesia.

Pua has also held lead communications roles at Citi Investment Research and OCBC.
