Global socially-led creative agency We Are Social has promoted Naiyen Wang (pictured) to the role of managing director, Southeast Asia (SEA).

In her new role, Wang is charged with overseeing the agency's presence in SEA, identifying growth opportunities and strengthening the agency's capabilities to service its growing roster of regional clients.

Wang was previously managing director of Singapore where she was responsible for defining and leading We Are Social Singapore's vision, operational strategy and innovation credentials, while delivering growth and building an inclusive, creative and future-facing culture.

She first joined the agency in 2022 and held the role of head of account management.

Before joining We Are Social, she was regional business director, APAC at DDB, where she led regional network clients such as J&J and Unilever and was integral in setting up new operating models for these clients to drive growth.

When MARKETING-INTERACTIVE reached out, Wang said that "Southeast Asia is an exciting market with tremendous growth potential. It is home to some of the largest and culturally diverse populations in Asia and social media's most active users."

"More and more regional and global brands are already realising this potential. With laser sharp focus on driving growth for these brands and We Are Social, I look forward to partnering with our wonderful teams of social-led experts and our clients across the region to deliver social-first strategic and creative solutions that create positive impact in the Southeast Asia market," she added.

Wang's promotion comes after the agency made several new appointments. Most recently, it appointed a new global group chief executive officer earlier in February this year. Toby Southgate, previously CEO of advertising agency Forsman & Bodernfors succeeded We Are Social's co-founder Nathan McDonald, who left the firm in October 2024.

In tandem, the agency named Rodrigo Mitma as its new creative director for Singapore in October 2024.
