Global socially-led creative agency We Are Social has promoted its business unit director Sunny Zhu (pictured) to general manager in Shanghai, China. In the newly created role, Zhu will report to Tristan Qin, China region EVP, We Are Social.
This promotion follows the growth of We Are Social’s presence in North Asia with offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Shenzhen which launched in February this year.
Upon the promotion, Zhu will continue to work with brands such as Ferrari, Korean Air and Google, while also fostering growth in the region and leading a team of 40 people. She will also take on an expanded remit that includes spearheading the agency's strategic initiatives and overseeing internal training and development programmes across the business.
Zhu joined We Are Social in 2016 as its account manager in Shanghai. During her seven years at the agency, she had helmed several senior roles including senior account director in Shanghai.
Pete Lin, CEO, North Asia, We Are Social said: “Zhu has always stood out as an ambitious and talented leader, and over the years she has become a driving force and positive influence within the agency. We’re excited to see how Zhu will help accelerate the growth of the Shanghai office as it becomes a dominant force in the Chinese advertising landscape.”
Meanwhile, Zhu said the team in Shanghai has been growing in recent years, and she is excited to be part of a dynamic business that’s making great creative work. "There’s a great spirit of collaboration and innovation, and in this next chapter, I’m looking forward to leading the team and driving results for clients," she added.
