Universal McCann’s (UM) CEO, Audrey Chong (pictured) has exited her role to pursue opportunities outside of the IPG Mediabrands group network. She has been in this role for nearly three years now after joining in early 2021.
According to IPG Mediabrands, the interim management of UM will now fall in the hands of CEO of Mediabrands, Bala Pomaleh and managing director of UM, Rina Low. They will lead the team and ensure seamless operations for the agency.

The process of hiring a new CEO is already underway, said IPG Mediabrands in a statement. “It is important we find the right fit for the job in terms of leadership and innovation. We have some very exciting candidates in the pipeline which will be announced in due course,” Pomaleh explained.
Chong was promoted to the role of CEO of UM after being the chief investment officer at IPG Mediabrands for just over three years, from 2018 to 2021, as stated on her LinkedIn page. She moved to IPG Mediabrands from DiGi Telecommunications where she was the head of marketing communications from 2014 to 2017.
Prior to Digi Telecommunications, she was the senior account director at M&C Saatchi Malaysia for just under a year from 2013 to 2014.
“We would like to thank Chong for being a key member of the Mediabrands family for over five years and wish her much success with what’s next,” said Pomaleh, about Chong’s departure.
At the time of her appointment as CEO, Pomaleh said Chong's experience as a client meant she understood the breadth of marketing challenges faced by clients and knew how the agency can best complement them with our futureproof solutions.
As Chong had also worked with leadership across its media, creative and diversified specialist agencies, Pomaleh said she has "a keen understanding" of the internal nuances and business opportunities available to maximise value for clients. "In short, I am positive of her ability to unite talents and drive client excellence to ensure continued momentum across UM and Ensemble," he added.
Mediabrands Content Studio was launched in November 2021 to network and grow the content capabilities within Mediabrands’ agencies - UM, Initiative, Reprise, Rapport, MAGNA and Orion worldwide. The new creative practice is currently led by Mediabrands global chief content officer Brendan Gaul.
