In line with the global release of the long-awaited Jurassic World Dominion movie in theatres this June from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, Toys"R"Us Hong Kong has inked an exclusive official partnership for Jurassic World dinosaur toys.

The partnership also includes events and giveaways for consumers, and Toys"R"Us Hong Kong is partnering with Mattel and Universal Brand Development.

"This is one of the first major family movies to be released in over two years with fabulous new merchandise associated with it and Toys"R"Us is thrilled to be part of this next chapter of one of the biggest franchises in the history of cinema," said Jo Hall, chief commercial officer of Toys"R"Us Asia. In the upcoming month, 13 stores across Hong Kong will provide fans with an in-store Jurassic World experience.

As part of the experience, consumers can also take part in an AR game where dinosaur fans can use their phones to unlock 7 Jurassic World dinosaurs such as the Velociraptor that "come alive" inside stores now that dinosaurs are in our world.

"This new, exciting chapter in one of the most iconic franchises in film history continues the adventure that has mesmerised global audiences, and our exclusive collaboration with Toys"R"Us provides the ultimate dinosaur experience,” said Jo Pascoe, Vice President Consumer Products Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and India of Universal Brand Development.

Pascoe added that fans will be transported and immersed in the franchise as take photos with the augmented reality dinosaurs and that the project has been a long-awaited one for the brand.

Meanwhile, Toys“R”Us Asia has also been strengthening its capabilities in Asia. It recently named Adyen as its online payments provider across multiple markets in Asia. Adyen said with its direct connections to card schemes and local payment methods, Toys“R”Us Asia can bring new markets online as Adyen can process payments in all local currencies.

Over the past years, Toys“R”Us Asia has undertaken a digital transformation, optimising its existing eCommerce service as part of its broader strategy to adapt to how customers are shopping today. In strengthening its online presence and enhancing the customer experience, Toys“R”Us wanted a payments experience that integrated smoothly with their new and existing systems. By collaborating with Adyen, Toys“R”Us Asia said it could have a better overview of payments data and the ability to offer shoppers local payment methods. These include AlipayHK and WeChat Pay HK in Hong Kong, and GrabPay MY in Malaysia.
