According to ShopBack, Ng's appointment comes after the group's foray into the fintech and payments space.

ShopBack In-Store is a rewards and loyalty platform that allows users to engage with their favourite brick-and-mortar retailers and F&B outlets. Whereas for ShopBack Pay, it gives users the flexibility to pay in-store via their preferred method of payment, while stacking rewards at the same time.

According to ShopBack, Ng brings to the plate more than 10 years of leadership experience in the eCommerce and fintech sectors. He previously held APAC leadership positions back in Groupon, before leaving to seed invest, co-found, and expand fitness platform KFit. Ng was also heavily involved in the latter's acquisition of Groupon Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, and subsequent rebranding as Fave.

During his latest tenure MD at Fave SEA, Ng led the launch and scaling of FavePay and FavePay Later across Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. He also played a pivotal role in growing its fintech business, added ShopBack.

"ShopBack is committed to making shopping rewarding for all across Asia Pacific with its ever-increasing solution suite, and I am glad to bring my experience to the table," said Ng. He added that with this experience, he aims to innovate and simplify shopping for users and merchants. "I am thrilled to be joining the ShopBack Group at such a significant and pivotal time of its growth," explained Ng.

Meanwhile, ShopBack's co-founder and CEO, Henry Chan said Ng's impressive track record in building businesses across multiple markets will be instrumental in the group's endeavours to deliver the most delightful shopping experience to its users. Chan added that the group was excited to welcome Ng to the ShopBack Group and looks forward to scaling its in-store business in Thailand, Taiwan and Australia.

On the leadership front, the group has also appointed former associate marketing director at Klook Travel, Emily Tan, as its head of marketing in Malaysia. As head of marketing, Tan told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE that she is responsible for assisting users to navigate the sales dates and deals with the different brands. In her role, she reports to general manager of ShopBack Malaysia, Eddy Han.

Tan said her vision for this role was to introduce the eCommerce company's value to its users, with a goal of ensuring that they have a fruitful shopping experience with additional savings. Tan added that she aims to continue empowering consumers with the company's "suite of innovative features" that would enable them to make better purchase decisions.
