Strategic communications and public relations consultancy RICE Communications is expanding its regional foothold with new offices in Thailand and the Philippines.

With an established presence in Singapore, Myanmar, and Hong Kong, the firm has been laying the groundwork for expansion since 2023, focusing on understanding the stakeholder landscape, forging industry partnerships, and integrating its values-based strategy into every aspect of its operations.

Partner and regional director Donna Garcia will spearhead the regional expansion and oversee operations across Thailand, Myanmar, and the Philippines. This expansion additionally marks the firm's larger commitment to stewardship, which focuses on how RICE and its people can positively impact its team, clients, and the wider community.

The organic expansion emphasises social impact as a key focal point, building on RICE’s strength in ESG communications and long-standing partnerships with global brands, not-for-profit organisations, and international development agencies.

Long-term partnerships with WWF have also seen RICE work on various conservation and illegal wildlife trade campaigns across Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam, as well as consultancy services for purpose-driven projects.

“Thailand and The Philippines offer RICE plenty of opportunity for growth and social good. Guided by our vision, we’re always looking at how our work can make a positive contribution to our clients, colleagues, and the communities we serve,” said James Brasher, managing partner, RICE.

Garcia added that beyond broadening the firm's geographical reach, RICE is building creative impact hubs similar to what it has already established in Myanmar, and making services more accessible to non-profits, NGOs, and social enterprises in the region.

One such initiative is developing local talent within a caring and inclusive environment, which is a top priority for RICE.  The firm remains committed to its philosophy by employing marginalised people who might otherwise find it challenging to land meaningful roles in the industry and has partnered with Education for the Deaf (EDeaf) in Thailand to train and hire graphic designers from its network.

The Thailand and Philippines offices are now fully operational, and allows RICE's existing brands to leverage the regional network and strengthen local outreach.
