Media service company Mindshare has appointed Lionel Kho to lead data strategy and analytics in the APAC region. He will report to Helen McRae, the company's APAC CEO, as confirmed to MARKETING-INTERACTIVE.

Kho brings with him 15 years of experience as a leader in data, analytics and data science, having spent 12 years working in the consumer financial services sector. He most recently was at dentsu where he served as vice president, data transformation, at Merkle Australia. Prior to that, he held the position of group data and analytics officer at dentsu international where he developed and led the dentsu Australia market's data and analytics center of excellence.

Prior to this, Kho held roles in Isobar as its national director of data and analytics and at the National Australian bank as its head of analytics and insight. He also spent three years at Medibank where he worked as its product portfolio manager, bringing analytics to product design, product management and portfolio strategy.

Kho, who will be based in Singapore, will be tasked with servicing the rapidly growing demand for data strategy and analytics work in the APAC region by organising Mindshare’s regional capabilities and talent into a centrally led organization focused on architecting good growth for clients.

“As we continue our ambition to become the most human-centric media organization in the industry, we’ve focused on building out world class data strategy, insights, and predictive analytics capabilities across APAC. Now is the time to bring them together under a single leader who can focus their synergies on growing client needs in this area. Kho has proven that he is that leader and I’m thrilled he is joining the Mindshare team to lead our efforts in APAC," said Shane McAndrew, Mindshare's chief global data strategy and analytics officer.

Adding on, McRae noted that she was thrilled to welcome Kho to Mindshare Asia Pacific and that he brings an "excellent" track record and "deep expertise" across data, technology, and analytics.  "Already he has elevated our offer to clients with both technical flair and a business focused outlook," she said.

The appointment comes shortly after Mindshare China appointed Tracy Taas Beijing's office head. As part of her new role, Ta will also join Mindshare China’s executive committee.

According to the release, Ta is a 14-year veteran of Mindshare. She partnered with the office’s largest client partnership, Yili. Back in 2018, Ta was appointed as the account lead. Under her leadership, Mindshare’s relationship with Yili has been recognised consistently in both local, regional, and international award shows.
