M&C Saatchi Spencer's executive creative director departs after 5 years

M&C Saatchi Spencer’s executive creative director Sammy Lau (pictured) has left the agency after five years.
According to his LinkedIn, Lau said after fruitful decades with 4As creative agencies, it’s time to take the leap. “No more 4As, what next?” he said.
The creative veteran joined M&C Saatchi Spencer in 2018. Prior to M&C Saatchi, he was the group creative director of dentsu Hong Kong. Before that, he helmed the role of creative director at McCann Hong Kong.
M&C Saatchi, a London-based advertising agency, announced on the London Stock Exchange in late December that it was reorganising and selling its two subsidiaries in Hong Kong and Sweden to the local founders.
This follows a series of major changes within M&C Saatchi, including the departure of Asia CEO Richard Morewood and the merger of offices in Singapore and Malaysia.
M&C Saatchi launched in Hong Kong with Spencer Wong at the helm in 2018, marking the agency's ninth office in Asia.
The agency was created to focus on local businesses while at the same time servicing Chinese businesses seeking to expand internationally via Hong Kong.
The agency was positioned to complement the existing operations in Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Jakarta, Delhi, Mumbai and Singapore while building its own unique niche by offering advertising, digital and social media marketing.

While in Indonesia, M&C Saatchi Indonesia, which was set up as a joint venture between M&C Saatchi Group and Anish Daryani, Dami Sidharta and Elki Hendria in 2018, has been acquired by Anish Daryani. M&C Saatchi Group’s 55% equity in the business has been acquired by Daryani for an undisclosed sum.
Cofounding partners Dami Sidharta, chief creative officer, and Elki Hendria, executive strategy and digital director, will continue to remain shareholders in the business, and an integral part of the leadership team.
