Internet domain provider MYNIC has appointed Ruder Finn Malaysia as its PR partner following a closed pitch called in May this year. Ruder Finn will be responsible for providing strategic counsel and managing PR duties in thought leadership, executive profiling, media relations, and stakeholder engagement for various internal and external initiatives. The agency will also help MYNIC strengthen its brand positioning, as well as accelerate the adoption of the ".my" domain in the nation.
Additionally, Ruder Finn will focus on amplifying MYNIC’s initiatives to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) transition from offline to online such as through the Program Realisasi Impian Ekonomi Digital (Digital Economy Dream Realisation Programme) programme. Launched in November last year, the initiative aims to support and guide MSMEs to digitalise their businesses, increase their competitiveness in the market, said the company. It also seeks to engage them in the digital economy through key components consisting of digital branding, digital platform and assets, as well as human capital development.
Hasnul Fadhly Hasan, chief executive officer of MYNIC said that the ongoing challenge is to keep brands, businesses, and corporations informed of the benefits of adopting the ".my" domain. This is in light of the accelerated digital adoption both locally and internationally due to the pandemic. “With close to eight million businesses registered in Malaysia, we believe that Malaysia has the potential to be a strong contributor to the global digital economy,” added Hasnul.
Elya Eusoff, GM of Ruder Finn Malaysia, said the agency was excited to partner with MYNIC to create value for the digital community, adding that Ruder Finn believed its clients are transformation drivers. “We strive to help them stay ahead of today’s innovation to reach for a bolder tomorrow. Upon learning MYNIC’s values and desires to create innovation that matters, enrich user experiences, and be committed towards excellence, we trust that this partnership will be able to uncover new possibilities for all,” said Elya.
MYNIC yesterday unveiled its new Pendigitalan Ekonomi Anak Seni Malaysia (Malaysian Artistes' Economic Digitalisation Programme) or Perantis programme, reported New Straits Times. Done in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation, it aims to promote eCommerce among Malaysian artistes by having 100 members of the creative industry involved in diverse eCommerce projects, as well as utilise the domain ".my" for their online businesses.
Ruder Finn Asia previously expanded into Malaysia in 2017, and named Elya Eusoff as GM of its Malaysian ops in 2019. Meanwhile, across the border, Ruder Finn bagged a slew of clients in the past three months, including EDB's Singapore Global Network, dating app Bumble, National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre, Ministry of Social and Family Development as well as indoor skydiving facility iFly Singapore.
