HKSTP X Hypebeast X Wing Shya celebrate tech craftsmanship for Hong Kong Art Week

This Hong Kong Art Week, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and Hypebeast present Mastery Collides, a visionary reimagining of technology as an art form.
Bringing this Innovation & Technology (I&T) project to life for the first time is renowned photographer Wing Shya. As the latest HKSTP Creator, the creative community of HKSTP with 100+ artists and influencers, Shya uses his lens to offer a fresh perspective on technology, capturing the ingenuity of four innovations from BSF Innovation (BSFI), Centre for Novostics, GRST, and ÖKOsix.

Innovation through an artist’s eyes
Using abstract light photography, Shya captures the structural strength of BSFI’s upcycled materials, designed to redefine sustainable construction. He reveals the precision of molecular structures from Centre for Novostics, which are revolutionising cancer and prenatal diagnostics. He illuminates the elegant simplicity of GRST’s breakthrough eco-friendly batteries, and conveys the fluidity of ÖKOsix’s biodegradable polymers, a key solution to the plastic crisis.
As he immersed himself in the project, Shya uncovered a deeper narrative within these innovations – one that transcends function to reveal their impact on the world.
“What surprised me the most was how these technologies – no matter how advanced – have stories behind them. They’re not just products; they’re answers to problems that affect the world. That’s what makes them art,” said Shya.

Reflecting on his experience, he added, “Technology, much like art, is in constant evolution. This project left me with a profound sense of admiration for how innovation continues to reshape the world around us – sometimes in ways we can’t immediately see, but that hold the power to redefine reality.”
Shaping masterpieces for the world
At its core, Mastery Collides embodies HKSTP’s ‘Keep Up’ campaign spirit, which champions resilience, ambition, and the steadfast pursuit of progress.

By presenting innovations as visually compelling compositions, the project demonstrates that both ‘masters’ of art and technology are driven by vision, perseverance, and the beauty of pushing boundaries to craft pieces that truly elevate lives: BSFI transforms food waste into resilient building materials, proving that unconventional ideas can drive real-world transformation; reimagining energy storage, GRST finds elegance in overlooked aspects of batteries, producing an innovation built in harmony with nature; and ÖKOsix’s innovators blend biodegradable polymers like an artist blending colours, balancing function and sustainability.
“Art and innovation embody a relentless pursuit of perfection – venturing beyond limits to create something extraordinary. Their craftsmanship is marked by the same Keep Up spirit, which makes anything possible when we keep our heads high and our vision far and wide,” said Hilda Chan, Chief Marketing Officer of HKSTP.
From Hong Kong to world: Innovation as art
Mastery Collides highlights I&T not just as something practical but as a creative force shaping our world. Through global media partnerships with Hypebeast the project extends its reach beyond borders, inviting audiences everywhere to witness the powerful visual dialogue between artistry and innovation.
