Havas China's Ben Sun takes on expanded role as CEO of Havas Creative China

Havas Group has promoted Ben Sun (pictured) to CEO of Havas Creative China, effective from 1 July, expanding his current remit as chief creative officer of Havas China.

In this newly created role, Sun will report to Karl Wu, chairman and CEO of Havas Greater China. Sun will continuously lead the creative team for the success of Havas’ creative presence in China, including offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. He will also be fully responsible for the overall business management of Havas Creative Group China.

In a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, a spokesperson from Havas Creative China said from the company perspective, the agency encourages highly integration, to better consolidate resources and expand business; therefore, the Havas Creative China CEO role is created. 

Sun joined Havas Group in 2006 and became the managing director and the chief creative officer in 2019. For nearly two decades, he has contributed creative intelligence and empowered the team to promote steady growth of the company and the industry, according to the release.

In addition to leading Havas Creative, Sun initiated Havas Overseas Internship Programme together with Shanghai University, to send outstanding students to Havas overseas offices for their internship, to uplift their international visions and profession.

He also launched a "Special Internship Programme" joining hands with Special Art College, Shanghai Institute of Technology, to hire hearing-impaired students as graphic designers, hoping to solve their employment issues. 

Commenting on the appointment, Wu said: "Sun has made outstanding contributions to the rapid development of Havas Creative in the past 17 years. I sincerely wish Ben with his talent and capability to lead the team to create meaningful difference for brands, business and people; cultivate more top-level talents and jointly promote the evolution and iteration of China's creative ecosystem."

Most recently, Havas has revamped its brand architecture and given a fresh new look to its brand identity for the first time in 20 years, to create a more contemporary, purposeful and user-friendly experience for clients, partners and talented individuals.

Done in collaboration with Conran Design Group, Havas’ strategic branding agency, the new visual identity is all about positive upward momentum, expressed visually with a dynamic edge that represents the creativity and forward-looking mentality at the heart of Havas’ business, according to the release.
