Facebook hires new head of marketing for Malaysia and Indonesia

90 Seconds' VP of marketing Joanna Wong has joined Facebook as head of marketing for Indonesia and Malaysia. In a LinkedIn post, Wong (pictured) said she is thrilled to have joined the Facebook family and while virtual onboarding is not the easiest, she is "truly excited and inspired by the culture" that Facebook has cultivated and the sincere focus on diversity and inclusion.
Wong was previously with 90 Seconds for more than two years, leading global marketing efforts in scaling up outreach to both customers and creators. According to her LinkedIn, the video creation platform is headquartered in Singapore with global offices in the US, UK, Hong Kong, and Australia.
Before that, she was Spotify's marketing director, Asia Pacific for more than five years. During her time there, she led the business marketing strategy across Asia Pacific, covering Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia, New Zealand, Australia, and Japan, her LinkedIn said. She managed a team across the region educating media agencies and clients on the power of Spotify's engaged audience and how brands can reach them through its platform.
She also worked at Sky Deutschland as senior manager, marketing, and HBO as associate manager, international marketing based in New York, her LinkedIn said.
Separately, Wong is also on the hunt for a country marketing manager for Malaysia. According to the job description, the individual will be responsible for all B2B marketing execution to enhance Facebook’s B2B brand as well as to accelerate business growth in Malaysia. He or she is also required to execute marketing strategy partnering with sales and other cross-functional partners in Malaysia, as well as create content to generate new business and educate clients and partners on new products and features.
The country marketing manager for Malaysia will also need to develop and execute digital marketing plan including campaigns and also ways on content. The ideal individual should have more than eight years of relevant experience and be skilled in campaign marketing and collecting and analysing human behavioural data, among others. Facebook declined to comment. MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to 90 Seconds for comment.
