Diageo has appointed PHD to handle global media planning and buying duties, according to Omnicom Media Group's website. This follows a global review called in September 2019. The incumbent on the account was Carat, which was appointed in a previous global media review in 2016. During that time, Carat managed duties across major Southeast Asia markets, cutting across a variety of brands including Guinness, Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker, Baileys, Singleton, Haig, Ciroc and Benmore. Marketing has reached out to Diageo, PHD and Carat for comment.
In a previous statement to Marketing, Diageo's spokesperson said: “It is industry best practice to review a major media account like this every few years. We have decided that the time is right to review our media agencies globally to ensure that we continue to be at the forefront of media planning and data driven marketing plans.”
Meanwhile last month, entertainment company Warner Bros Pictures Group appointed PHD Malaysia to manage its integrated media duties in Malaysia. PHD Malaysia was tasked to deliver integrated media strategies, as well as planning and buying duties for the entertainment company behind box-office hits such as the DC Superheroes franchises and New Line Cinema blockbusters.
