dentsu HK strengthens media offering creating new GM role

dentsu International Hong Kong has appointed Wai-Chung Au as general manager for its media service line. In this newly created role, Au is tasked to drive operational excellence and efficiency, lead the media agencies to further strengthen the network’s integrated capabilities, build up end-to-end delivery for clients to unlock new growth in this dynamic consumer landscape.

He will report to Anna Chan, media CEO, dentsu International Hong Kong. Having worked in both media and consultancy industries, Au (pictured) brings with him over twenty years of experience in media and business development. He has worked with a broad portfolio of brands in his career such as Deliveroo, LEGO, Carlsberg, Samsung and Visa where he led the integrated media strategy development.

Prior to joining dentsu, Au helmed senior positions as the business director at IPG Mediabrands and CMRS Group. He was the key account leader at Starcom before taking on the business lead role at SociaLink.

Chan said, “We have redesigned the way we work to enable true integration across multiple agency brands and capabilities. This is a newly created role to ensure we are putting the right resource into the new structure to deliver our promise to our clients. I am confident Au’s joining will further anchor our strategic value, unlock new growth and contribute success to our clients in a world of accelerated change.”

Meanwhile, dentsu International Hong Kong appointed Anna Chan as media CEO, effective from 1 June. Chan joined from PHD Hong Kong to oversee the full suite of dentsu’s media business including its data consulting and trading units. She will be responsible for accelerating the network’s transformation agenda by tapping into high growth areas such as data, brand commerce and performance marketing, developing an integrated portfolio of solutions and capabilities.
