HK film director Tsui Yiu Ming named CEO of ATV

Asia Television Limited (ATV) has appointed Tsui Yiu Ming Siuming as its new chief executive officer, with effect from 3 February.
Aged 69, Tsui is a film director and producer in China and Hong Kong. He has extensive experience in operations management, and has served as senior vice president of ATV, chief executive officer of the Emperor Motion Pictures Group, executive director of i-Cable Entertainment, chief operating officer of i-Cable Satellite Television Limited and president of Sundream Motion Pictures. Tsui has been appointed as director and chief executive officer of ShiFang Holding from December 2015 to October 2019.

According to the press release, Tsui entered film as a child actor at the age of five, and has been working in the film and TV industry for more than 64 years. He is the founder and the president of Hong Kong Film and Television Culture Association.

According to a report by Ming Pao, Tsui said in ATV’s Chinese Year celebration ceremony on 4 February that, ATV’s general direction in the future is to cultivate actors to become successors. They will focus in production of drama series and movies. Tsui added that ATV's Miss Asia Pageant has always been one of the most famous programme, which he would not giving up on producing it.

Furthermore, Tsui said that ATV is not competing with TVB in terms of ratings. Instead, they might collaborate. Since they both strives to be competitive in the Greater Bay Area as well as the international market. He also said that TVB's general manager Eric Tsang was courageous and experienced, while ViuTV was very successful in targeting the youth market which was worth learning. On the other hand, there have been multiple reports revolving around ATV's financial situation being unstable in recent years, however, Tsui said that the financial situation of the company made him feel relieved, otherwise he would not return to the company.
