Yahoo has named Josh Line as its global chief marketing officer, tasked with leading the company’s brand strategy, user acquisition and customer engagement efforts.
Line, a veteran marketer with more than two decades of experience, will report directly to Yahoo CEO Jim Lanzone. His appointment comes as Yahoo looks to reinvigorate its brand and drive growth across its portfolio of media, technology and advertising products.
Prior to joining Yahoo, Line was chief brand officer at Paramount Global, where he played a key role in launching the Paramount+ streaming service and oversaw the company’s rebrand from ViacomCBS. He also chaired Paramount’s marketing council and led the development of marketing centres of excellence across media, operations, martech and social.
“With a strong track record of scaling both emerging and iconic brands, combined with his ability to build and lead high-performance teams, Josh is the ideal leader to propel the Yahoo brand forward during this critical moment in our journey,” Lanzone said.
Line said he was excited to “reignite love and cultural impact” for the Yahoo brand.
“At 30 years young, Yahoo is one of the internet’s most storied brands, and its mission to be a trusted guide through the digital wilderness is as relevant as ever,” Line said. “I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to drive growth for its portfolio of leading products.”
Prior to Paramount, he held senior marketing roles at Comedy Central, Paramount Network and TV Land and worked with creative agencies including Droga5, Anomaly and Scratch.
