West Coast Expressway (WCE) has appointed Syed Mohammed Idid as its new general manager of strategic communications and stakeholder engagement.

The role is newly created as WCE’s CEO, Lyndon Felix, whom Syed will be reporting to, saw the importance of a robust communication structure to deliver the positive message its key stakeholders who impact its business.

Beyond strategic communications and stakeholder engagement, his role will oversee internal communications, sustainability, and ESG matters as well as pairing with the CEO and senior leadership team in its change management quests.

The department on a whole will focus on communications and advocacy as it aims to build a higher level of awareness and understanding, as well as appreciation of the benefits WCE offers to highway customers, its investors as well as shareholders, said Syed to A+M.

He joined the company in 2019 as head of corporate, community and public engagement, a role he occupied till 2021 before starting as head of strategic stakeholder engagement. After a year, Syed moved up to take on the position of head of corporate communications.

In a statement to A+M, Syed said that his time at PLUS was “indescribable for any comms practitioner.”

“We are on our toes every day, the experience is invaluable,” he added. He sang praises of his team, stating that it was made of strong professionals who made his job easier every day.

Moving forward, Iskandar Dzulkifli, who is currently the team lead of strategic government advocacy stepped into Syed’s position till a final appointment is announced.

“Iskandar has been in the company for almost 30 years now, so I am happy to be leaving the team in such good hands. While he is my acting head, I would really love to see him become the actual head as internal is very important for the growth of succession planning,” Syed told A+M
