Grab to offer free peak hour shuttle services from Sentosa

Grab Singapore and Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) are collaborating to enhance connectivity to and fro Sentosa island, with the introduction of a shuttle bus service for peak hours. Under the three-year partnership, Grab will be sponsoring the service to visitors for free.

The shuttles will operate from Beach station to Harbourfront Bus Interchange between 6 to 9PM, from Fridays to Sundays; as well as between 3 to 6PM and 6 to 9PM on public holidays and long weekends.

The shuttles will run at 10-minute intervals most of the time, and at 5-minute intervals in the evenings for public holidays and long weekends.

Additionally, passengers taking the complimentary shuttle service will soon be able to scan a QR code at the back of the bus seats to redeem Grab Ride vouchers. The vouchers can be stored on users’ GrabRewards accounts to apply for future rides.

Alvin Wee, head of transport and operations for Grab Singapore said “Sentosa’s proximity to popular malls often means there is higher ride demand in nearby areas. To better address this, we have introduced alternative solutions like free shuttle bus services, which conveniently transports users to nearby transport hubs.”

“This offers guests the flexibility to continue their journeys via public transport or book a Grab ride from locations with greater driver availability. Our partnership with Sentosa is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the commuting experience for Grab users throughout Singapore,” added Wee.

SDC’s divisional director, marketing and guest experience, Chris Pok said “As Singapore's premier island leisure destination, we are committed to continually elevating our guests' experience. Grab’s free shuttle services and refreshed pick-up and drop-off points, which are mapped to popular spots on Sentosa, make travelling to and from Sentosa smoother and more convenient for our guests.”

This comes amid Sentosa’s pick-up and drop-off (PUDO) points on the island have also been refreshed within the Grab app, making it easier for driver-partners and passengers to locate each other. The changes were made based off visitor feedback and data from Grab.

The 10 PUDO points have also been optimised to reduce walking distances and are now marked with clear signages. The Grab app will also provide supporting photos guiding guests to the nearest PUDO point.

Last year, Grab ran the “Be Present” free shuttle bus service over the Christmas period, to help overseas Filipino workers get home with ease for the holidays in the Philippines. Nine buses were deployed to shuttle some 1,000 passengers per day to ease congestion at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, by bringing passengers to One Ayala.

In January 2024, Grab also offered free shuttle services for Coldplay concertgoers from the National Stadium to four MRT stations on selected show dates. The service was available at 15 to 30-minute intervals at a first come first served basis.
