Watsons MY brings back iconic Raya film legends in “Raya Terunggul”

Health and beauty brand Watsons Malaysia has launched its brand film titled “Watsons Raya Terunggul” (The best Raya) for the festive season, which reunites legendary characters from Malaysia’s beloved film and television series such as “Mami Jarum, “Adnan Sempit, and “Gerak Khas”. These are Kartina Aziz as Mami Jarum, Shaheizy Sam as Adnan, as Yusof Haslam as SAC Datuk Helmi. 

Blending nostalgia and comedy, the Raya film also features other popular stars Hisyam Hamid, Maya Karin, Ropie, and Mia Sara. Set against the backdrop of a classic Raya celebration, “Watsons Raya Terunggul" follows Melati, a devoted daughter preparing to welcome a new father into her life.

As she struggles with the uncertainty of change, the legendary film characters magically come to life, guiding her through an emotional yet humorous journey of self-discovery. The two suitors are then pitted against each other to see who would be the worthy father, and new husband for Melati’s mother, Mama Rokiah. 

Adnan from “Adnan Sempit” appears first, challenging the two potential dads to see who would be the most stylish motorbike model. Following which, Mami Jarum places their hearts to the test, to see who would know the heart of Mama Rokiah the best. Lastly, SAC Datuk Helmi appears, asking the two men to “Cari Pencuri Itu” (find the thief). 

The seven-minute film also features Watsons’ brand ambassador Ayda Jebat, singing the upbeat “Watsons Kaw Kaw Raya” song, which is also available for on Spotify, Apple Music, Instagram Music, TikTok and other music platforms. As a part of the Raya campaign, Watsons has also launched a competition on its social media platforms, featuring the song.  

Caryn Loh, managing director of Watsons Malaysia said “Watsons aims to foster the spirit of bringing friends and family together this Raya. To celebrate this, we’ve created the #DanceChallengeRayaWatsons, where participants also have the chance to win RM8,888 in cash by posting their entries on social media.” 

“The Watsons Raya campaign is not just about celebration, but also about embracing the values of love, family, and gratitude. Through our initiatives, we hope to bring warmth and joy to all Malaysians as they gather with their loved ones this festive season,” added Caryn. 

Watsons Malaysia is one of Malaysia’s leading health and beauty retailers with more than 700 stores in the country. This Chinese New Year, the brand also released its “Happy Beautiful Year” music video which did exceedingly well, having garnered over 26 million views to date. The production starred Phei Yong, Jestinna Kuan, Perry Kuan, Mskuan, Danny Lee, and Amber Chia. Meanwhile, Watsons’ previous Raya films have sat at around 6 to 8 million views. “Raya Terunggul” is performing fairly well, with nearly 7.1 million views since its release a week ago.
