Hong Kong-based big data company Vpon has appointed its current group CSO Yoshitaka Shinohara (pictured left) as its new CEO, succeeding its founder Victor Wu (pictured right) who resigned from his position on 1 October.

Shinohara will further promote Vpon’s expansion in the Japanese market and accelerate the development of the cross-border strategy “Cool Japan & Nations”.

Shinohara has been serving as the Vpon CSO and general manager of Vpon Japan since 2014 and has rich experience in big data and cross-border market expansion.

In the future, Vpon will continue to focus on deepening its presence in the Japan market while actively exploring new markets in the Asia-Pacific region. With ”Cool Japan & Nations” as its core concept, it will utilise AI and big data analysis technologies to create unique value for its clients and partners.

"Our strategy is built on the foundation of data-driven and DX approaches, cultural exchange, and cross-industry cooperation, aiming to achieve business success while promoting global development. We hope that through this approach, we can facilitate international cultural exchange and assist other countries in shaping and realising their respective ”Cool Nations” visions, serving as an important driving force for showcasing their unique charm on the global stage," said the spokesperson of Vpon.

Established in 2008, Wu established Vpon with the vision of “Data drives transactions.” Under his leadership, the company’s operations expanded from Taiwan to key Asian markets including Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand.

Vpon has established cooperative relationships with important institutions and brands such as the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO), Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau (TCVB), Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau (OCTB), JR East, JR West, CTBC Bank, ABC Mart, and others.

Wu’s vision and leadership have transformed Vpon into a leading AI data company in Asia, constructing a comprehensive big data ecosystem. The new CEO, Shinohara, on behalf of the company and the board of directors, expresses gratitude for Wu’s past contributions in guiding the group to accomplish its phase-specific missions, and extends best wishes for his future endeavours.
