Digital lifestyle telecommunication company Tune Talk has appointed Bernard Chong as its new chief marketing officer (CMO).
In his new position, Chong will oversee Tune Talk's marketing function and its product, loyalty, and insights teams. In addition, he will lead the company through a transformation journey from a mobile virtual network operator to a mobile network operator.
Chong brings extensive marketing experience from roles in various organisations, including foodpanda, SEEK, Citi, and Accenture. At foodpanda, Chong took on the role of marketing director where he led all marketing and partnership efforts. He was also crucial in establishing the brand's presence in Malaysia.

At SEEK, Chong was the regional VP of marketing (APAC) where he developed regional and growth strategies, as well as lead digital transformation. Meanwhile, Chong was Citi's vice president, head of consumer cards for over three years and was a management consulting manager at Accenture.
Most recently, Chong was the country general manager at Zenyum where he spearheaded initiatives to drive market expansion, enhance brand visibility and optimise operational efficiency.
“I am thrilled to join Tune Talk at this pivotal moment in its evolution. My focus will be on delivering exceptional value to our millions of subscribers while strengthening their loyalty and engagement. Our goal is ambitious yet achievable: to double our subscriber base by 2025 through innovative strategies and customer-centric solutions,” said Chong.
According to a press statement seen by A+M, Chong's extensive experience in both B2B and B2C markets positions him as a driving force behind Tune Talk's growth ambitions. His appointment marks a significant step towards the company's vision of expanding its footprint and delivering unparalleled services to its subscribers, it added.
Chong is not the only recent marketer to depart from Zenyum in recent months. Earlier in October this year, Zenyum's APAC CMO Bassam Abdel-Rahman stepped down from company after four years.
In conversation, Abdel-Rahman said he will be taking the time to step back and focus on more family time, in the short term.
In tandem, Abdel-Rahman will be open to exploring opportunities as a fractional CMO. "I'm looking forward to focusing on my family, and in between chasing after my sons, opening myself up to interesting conversations and taking on fractional projects for brands with exciting challenges to tackle," he told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE.
