Planning for your next holiday has now been made much easier with travel guidance platform Tripadvisor’s new AI-powered travel itinerary generator that aims to re-imagine the way travellers plan, share and book trips.
The new tool utilises OpenAIs generative AI technology and leverages on the guidance of its community of travellers to create personalised travel itineraries from a plethora of reviews and opinions of businesses listed on Tripadvisor.

“By harnessing the power of generative AI, we can begin to fully unlock the potential of our platform’s unparalleled review and traveller intent data, allowing us to offer truly unique travel guidance to our members,” said Tripadvisor’s president and CEO, Matt Goldberg.
“This launch represents an important milestone in Tripadvisor’s strategy and is just one element of our plan to drive deeper engagement with travelers on our platform,” he continued.
The tool generates a day-by-day itinerary which can be saved, shared and edited when travellers enter travel details such as their destination, who they are travelling with and the types of activities they are interested in.
"We know our community is passionate about trip planning, so we wanted to thoughtfully build something that would enhance that experience, not replace it,” added Sanjay Raman, chief product officer at Tripadvisor.
“Personalised results and recommendations from fellow travelers are two of the most important elements of the planning process and generative AI has helped us bring them together in a way we think will be really compelling for travellers,” Raman further noted.
Tripadvisor’s latest AI feature is currently in its beta phase and is only accessible to users in the United States with a focus primarily on experience, attraction, and dining recommendations. However, the travel platform shared in a statement that it plans to make the feature available in more markets in the future on its native app as the beta progresses and is also working on expanding its suite of travel planning tools.
Last year, Tripadvisor appointed tech, travel and hospitality veteran John Boris as its chief marketing officer. He will directly report to the company’s CEO Matt Goldberg.
In the role, Boris will establish a world-class marketing function for Tripadvisor, where he will have direct responsibility for the platform’s B2C and B2B marketing strategy and execution.
