Touch 'n Go hires Annushia Balavijendran as deputy GM for product marketing

Annushia Balavijendran, former regional corporate communications head at telecommunications company edotco Group, has joined Touch 'n Go as its deputy general manager for product marketing and growth. With more than 16 years of experience under her belt, Balavijendran (pictured) is skilled in business writing, strategic planning, branding as well as influencer and relationship management, according to her LinkedIn. Her experiences cover the development of communications, branding, and marketing results. According to Balavijendran's LinkedIn, she thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments and loves being part of the solution to challenging situations. She also enjoys working with people of diverse backgrounds.
Touch 'n Go did not share more details of Balavijendran's role at the time of writing.
Prior to her role at Touch 'n Go, Balavijendran helmed the regional corporate communications head role at telecommunications infrastructure services company, edotco Group. Helming the role for more than four years, Balavijendran was responsible for strategising, developing and maintaining all communications (internal, external and crisis) for the group across Southeast Asia. Additionally, Balavijendran collaborated with teams from different countries to customise and project manage communications initiatives that tie to group objectives. Balavijendran also manages the annual budget for the corporate communications department.
Before edotco Group, she was Erricson's head of communications in Malaysia and Sri Lanka for more than a year. As head of communications, Balavijendran strategised, developed and maintained all external communications. This includes all written material for media engagements, branding initiatives, marketing events, social media activity and crisis communications. She was also required to collaborate with key accounts to identify, customise and develop material for external engagements with customers, government institutions and other parties.
On the real estate front, Balavijendran has helmed communication roles in Selangor Dredging and Sime Darby Property respectively. When at Selangor Dredging, Balavijendran helmed the assistant manager role for communications and corporate affairs for two years, said her LinkedIn. During her time there, Balavijendran was responsible for ensuring compliance for branding guidelines throughout the company. These guidelines covered internal and external communications. She also had to strategise and develop all branding initiatives to introduce a new brand image for the company. Whereas at Sime Darby Property, Balavijendran was the assistant VP for PR, media and corporate communications for more than a year.
On the leadership front, Touch 'n Go appointed Chong Fhui as its chief commercial officer in October last year, according to his LinkedIn. Prior to that, Chong was the chief sales officer at Allianz Partners for more than a year. He was also with Astro for eight years, last helming the role of head of sales, enterprise business. Separately, Lau Shu Wei joined Sime Darby Property as chief marketing and sales officer, reporting to group MD Azmir Merican. Lai confirmed his appointment to A+M but declined to comment further. He was previously unifi's VP and head of marketing as well as CEO of TM Net and CEO of TM Multimedia at Telekom Malaysia.
