Tatler Asia Group hires Malaysian media veteran Marc Lourdes

Update: Lourdes will not be relocating to Hong Kong and will still be based in Malaysia.

Marc Lourdes, Astro's VP and head of Indian content, has joined Tatler Asia Group as regional digital content director. For the past 17 years, Lourdes (pictured) has worked with various media companies in the world, initially focusing on the news before transitioning to a full-suite media leadership. According to his LinkedIn, his experience spans out across print, digital and TV platforms.

Lourdes spent close to three years at Astro Malaysia. In his most recent role, Lourdes spearheaded Astro's Indian content business, including original, signature, and third-party content, across the company's Pay TV and digital platforms. He was also responsible for revamping the company's local Indian content offering where he tripled his segment's OTT consumption and increased the division's overall channel share. He first joined in 2018 as VP for Indian content from CNN Digital Asia where he was based in Hong Kong as director. 

During his time there, he led CNN's Hong Kong team across content and programming for the company's global audience for over two years, according to his LinkedIn. He was also responsible for devising and implementing strategies to grow key audiences in the region, working closely across and with CNN Asia. Aside from Astro Malaysia and CNN, Lourdes alsoworked at Yahoo for five years. He first started as Yahoo's managing director for Yahoo news digest in Southeast Asia before helming the Singapore role of editor in chief. He also spent more than a decade as a journalist, working at publications such as The Star and New Straits Times in Malaysia. MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to Tatler Asia Group and Astro Malaysia for comment.

Separately, Astro is currently on the hunt for an assistant VP, head of marketing and digital business to lead the eGG Network brand and community, building strategies across all channels. Based in Kuala Lumpur, the appointed individual will be responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive marketing and communications strategies. This is to create awareness of eGG Network B2B and B2B activities in the region. Formerly known as Astro SuperSport Plus, eGG Network is a Malaysia pay television channel that focuses on esports and broadcasts electronic games tournaments globally.
