Taste.com.au launches ‘Taste the World’ as Australians embrace global flavours

Australians are cooking more international dishes than ever, with a new Taste.com.au survey revealing that most home cooks prepare meals from at least three different cuisines each week.
More than 60 percent say they want to experiment with global flavours, with Greek cuisine topping the list of what people want to cook more often.
The findings come as Taste.com.au launches Taste the World, a four-week campaign celebrating Australia’s evolving palate. The initiative will introduce new recipes, articles, and video content designed to help home cooks confidently explore different cuisines.
The survey of 2,300 Australians found that Italian and Chinese remain the most popular cuisines, while younger generations are leading the way in trying new flavours. Gen Z and Millennials are experimenting the most, with 77 percent of Gen Z naming pasta as one of their go-to meals due to its ease and versatility. Mexican and Japanese are also surging in popularity among younger home cooks.
Kerrie McCallum, head of food, travel and health at Taste.com.au, said the trend reflects a broader shift towards culinary diversity.
“Younger generations are leading the charge in exploring bold global flavours, whether it’s dining out, ordering in, or trying new recipes at home,” she said. “Looking at the variety of cuisines Australians want to explore more - everything from Greek to Vietnamese to Moroccan - it’s clear that people are keen to diversify their pantries.”
As part of the campaign, Taste.com.au will collaborate with high-profile chefs and content creators, including Brendan Pang, Khanh Ong, Warren Mendes, and Zai Bennett, alongside its in-house experts. A multi-platform push across digital, print, video, and social media will support the initiative.
Taste.com.au reaches more than 4.8 million Australians monthly, with engagement surging as home cooks look for inspiration. With Taste the World, the platform aims to tap into that growing appetite for international flavours.
Taste.com.au content director Laura Simpson (pictured) said: "Our Taste the World campaign will empower home cooks to confidently explore new flavours with simple and delicious recipes developed by taste.com.au and top recipe creators. Just as many of us love being the first to check out a new restaurant, home cooks are eager to try fresh flavours and share cultural experiences.”
