Taiwanese croissant chain Hazukido (八月堂) has closed all its Hong Kong stores after seven years of operation, as netizens discovered the shutdown of its last branch in Sheung Shui.
In a Facebook group that reports closures of retail stores and restaurants, "全港執笠結業消息關注組", a netizen posted a photo revealing that Hazukido’s Sheung Shui store, which is also its last store in Hong Kong, has closed.

The Facebook post has received over 50 reactions, according to a check by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE. While some users noted that there were long lines when Hazukido first opened in Hong Kong, some claimed that the APM branch closed within less than a year.

There has been no formal announcement of the brand's closure on its official website or its Facebook and Instagram pages, which have not been updated since October last year. The brand has not yet released any updates or confirmed if it will exit the Hong Kong market. However, Hazukido's status is listed as "closed permanently" on the local online food and restaurant guide OpenRice.

Meanwhile, while Hazukido's official website does not indicate closure, MARKETING-INTERACTIVE found that calling the store redirected to a voicemail stating, "the phone number is not registered to any user”.
Originating from Taiwan, Hazukido is known for its creative and varied selection of croissant products. It made its debut in the Hong Kong market in 2018, launching branches in areas such as Quarry Bay, Mong Kok, Tseung Kwan O, and Causeway Bay. According to its website, Hazukido also has locations in Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, and Canada.
MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to Hazukido for a statement.
Don't miss: US sandwich chain Eggslut to exit HK
In the past two years, there has been an increasing number of retail chains and restaurant groups shutting down stores. Back in February, US egg sandwich chain Eggslut exited the Hong Kong market after less than two years, with its Causeway Bay store's last day of operation on 23 February.
Eggslut thanked Hongkongers for their support on its Instagram and Facebook pages. “We are deeply grateful to Hong Kong and all Hongkongers for your support. The long queues, the joy on our customers’ faces, and every like and share online—these moments will forever be in our hearts.”
In the same month, Transformers: The Ark Restaurant also closed its outlet on Russell Street and will relocate to Shenzhen on 1 May.
Back in December last year, Japanese souffle pancake business A Happy Pancake (幸福Pancake) also closed its final site in Causeway Bay after six years of operation in Hong Kong.
