Spotify has begun rolling out its new personalised AI guide DJ in Beta to select Premium users in Singapore for an added level of personalisation as it looks to connect artists and fans in a different way.
DJ is voiced by Spotify’s head of cultural partnerships, Xavier Jernigan, who introduces himself as “X” and aims to deliver a curated lineup of music based on a user’s listening habits.

The feature also offers commentary around tracks and artists in a realistic voice. Information shared would be things such as what happened culturally around the year a track was released.
“Never before has listening felt so completely personal to each and every user, thanks to the powerful combination of Spotify’s personalisation technology, generative AI and a dynamic, expressive voice,” said Spotify in a statement.
DJ aims to exemplify Spotify’s dedication to personalisation and will recommend users new music as well as play them songs they used to listen to years ago.
Users can find the personal DJ when they open the Spotify app on their smartphones and head to the music feed on their Home tab.
Additionally, DJ allows users to switch the genre and mood of the songs being played by tapping the circular DJ button on the bottom right of the page.
As the DJ mode is still in Beta, Spotify has promised users that it will continue to iterate and innovate on the experience over time.
Spotify has been ramping up its efforts to deliver new experiences to its users as it recently teamed up with South Korean pop girl group NewJeans to celebrate the release of their sophomore EP Get UP with new content, immersive pop-ups and digital experiences.
To fuel the excitement for the release, the campaign included a Bunnyland digital experience that allows Spotify users to discover which member of the quintet, is their “hero” based on their music tastes.
