The biggest news in Singapore over the last few days has been a train disruption on the East-West MRT lines that began on September 25 and is still ongoing till today.
LTA reported that its engineers found "extensive damage to the track and trackside equipment" when a faulty train that was returning to Ulu Pandan depot caused a power trip which then caused significant damage to the track when the train was being withdrawn.

IKEA Singapore was quick to jump on the news and put up a cheeky social post on its page saying, "EWL down, but we're still up".
The post then went on to detail all of its stores, which are on the green line such as the ones in Jurong East, Queenstown and Tampines.
"Running fine 10am-10pm and 24 hours online," it said in its caption.
The post was well received with many netizens commenting that IKEA should have some outlets on other train lines and that the marketing team should get a raise.

What happened
On 25 September, a train developed a fault near Clementi station and the train was withdrawn. However, in the process, it started releasing smoke and tripped the power. Passengers had to be evacuated using the tracks.
This caused a service outage between Boon Lay and Queenstown MRT stations. When the faulty train was being withdrawn, it caused significant damage to the tracks.
"From the overnight checks, we found a total of 34 rail breaks across 1.6km of tracks between Clementi and Dover stations, and damage to three-point machines which are used to divert the train to different tracks; the third rail which supplies power; as well as power cables and rail clips," said LTA in a statement.
There are currently still no train services from Jurong East to Buona Vista stations as of 30 September.
"We are working towards restoration of train services on Tuesday, 1 October, subject to weather conditions and after thorough testing have been successfully completed to ensure safety of commuters," said LTA.
