Publicis Media Singapore hands Ian Loon CEO title

Publicis Groupe has promoted Ian Loon as CEO of Publicis Media Singapore. He will succeed current CEO of Publicis Media Singapore, Gareth Mulryan, who will be pursuing other opportunities within Publicis Groupe.

Loon (pictured) last helmed the role of managing director of Starcom and Spark Foundry in Singapore. He has spent close to 15 collective years with Starcom over various stints. He began his advertising career as an intern during the inception of the agency from Leo Burnett, following the global decoupling of media and creative services back in 2000.

According to Publicis, Loon has contributed to the success of Publicis Groupe’s digital and media operations in Singapore and has led a number of key global client relationships across Southeast Asia. In his new role, he will report to Loris Nold, CEO of Publicis Groupe APAC and MEA, also based in Singapore.

On taking up the new role, Loon said that the network spent its recent years establishing a formidable setup which contributed to the success of its clients and agencies. "I am grateful to Mulryan for his leadership and I am taking this new role with a strong commitment to work closer with the rest of Publicis Groupe to drive increasing impact for our clients’ businesses, and support the growth of our incredible agency talents at Publicis Media,” he added.

Meanwhile, Nold said he has been working with Loon for quite some time, and calls it a "well deserved" promotion. According to Nold, Loon is a progressive digital and media leader with a strong track record in the Singaporean market and beyond when it comes to transforming the agency's relationship with clients.

"Singapore is a pivotal market for us, as we both have a strong commitment behind Singaporean domestic clients, and are managing the regional engagement for many of our global clients. Loon is at the center of a number of our Power of One client solutions and has been working seamlessly with our other leaders in Singapore. I am sad to see Mulryan leaving Singapore, as he’s done a terrific job over the years but I am really happy to know that he’s moving into a new role within Publicis Groupe,” he added.

Mulryan added: “I am really happy with Loon’s appointment and I couldn’t think of a better leader to continue the great journey we’ve been on with all the talents at Publicis Media in Singapore. We are all very proud of what we’ve built here. I am equally looking forward to my next move within Publicis Groupe.”

The change in CEO comes shortly after Publicis Media officially launched its global media agency brand Spark Foundry in Singapore, under the reins of Youli Hooi. Hooi will helm the role of executive director, head of Spark Foundry Singapore. Clients that the agency will be working with include Mondelez, Citi, and Expedia.
