PROTON names media partner

PROTON has reappointed m/SIX as its media agency, following the final round of pitching which also saw UM participate, A+M understands. A+M first reported on the pitch in March this year.Meanwhile, in July this year, PROTON appointed essence Burson-Marsteller to manage social media duties for a year, with work currently underway. The news came after a pitch held in March and the incumbent was APD, which A+M understands is still managing website duties for PROTON.PROTON, in recent times, has experienced a drop in overall unit sales from a 36-month high of 9,501 units to 4,524 units in September 2018. Despite this, the automotive maker said that its market share as a percentage of the total industry volume increased to 15%, a new high point for 2018 and the highest share percentage since May 2017.Earlier this month, PROTON's vendors also signed an agreement with their overseas counterparts and the move is expected to bring an initial investment of RM170 million to Malaysia. The amount is expected to multiply over the years in tandem with increases in PROTON’s manufacturing volume.The company also recently activated an online booking function on its website for customers to pay a deposit for the PROTON X70 order. The PROTON X70 is its first model to use voice recognition technology, and the company believes potential owners will appreciate the feature.
