PHLPost unveils 2025 snake stamps, reviving Lunar New Year tradition

To celebrate the 2025 Lunar New Year, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has launched its vibrant collection of thematic postage stamps at Robinsons Manila, inspired by the wisdom and symbolism of the Year of the Wood Snake.
This launch is part of PHLPost's longstanding tradition of releasing special stamps each year to commemorate the Lunar New Year, following the 2023 release of stamps celebrating the Year of the Rabbit and the 2024 Year of the Dragon.
As part of the festivities, the Philippine Philatelic Federation Inc., in collaboration with Robinsons Malls, opened a stamp exhibition showcasing a range of Chinese Zodiac-themed stamps, according to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), the official government body tasked with disseminating information to the public.

This exhibition was included in the Prosperity Trail, a cultural initiative by Robinsons Malls that brings the spirit of the Lunar New Year to the local community.
"In Chinese mythology, the snake symbolises wisdom, knowledge, intelligence, intuition, and creativity," the PIA wrote. "It is also associated with good luck, prosperity, fertility, and longevity, revered for its ability to shed its skin, representing transformation and rebirth."
According to postmaster general Luis D. Carlos, the new year presents a wealth of opportunities for PHLPost to further improve its services.
He highlighted plans for enhanced mail and parcel delivery efficiency, including the establishment of Barangay Postal Stations, the implementation of a new seven-digit alphanumeric zip code system, and the opening of next-day delivery hubs aimed at supporting small and medium enterprises.
"Like the serpent's wisdom and resilience, good governance is about adaptability, foresight, and building trust with the people we serve," Carlos said.
The Philippine postal system, with a history spanning over 250 years, has evolved significantly from its early days. Over the years, the system adapted to changing political landscapes and global shifts, playing a crucial role in communication during the Philippine Revolution.
Earlier this year, PHLPost enhanced its logistics service with a revitalised fleet of 18 six-wheelers and 4 ten-wheelers to boost delivery efficiency and expand its reach in the booming eCommerce and logistics market, the company announced.
In case you missed it, here are some of the previous stamps released by PHLPost in celebration of the Lunar New Year. Last year, the postal service unveiled two new stamp designs, with the denominations of 16 pesos and 45 pesos, created in collaboration with in-house graphic artist Ryman Dominic L. Albuladora.
In 2023, PHLPost released commemorative Year of the Rabbit stamps at Seascape Village in Pasay City.
