Nextmedia unveils techpartner.news: a new era for the Australian tech channel

Nextmedia is proud to announce the rebranding of its channel publication to techpartner.news, marking an exciting new chapter for the leading B2B technology news platform.

The transformation, effective from 1st April 2025, signifies a bold step towards greater independence and expanded industry connections.

“After 20 years under a global licensing arrangement, The Channel Company (TCC) has chosen not to renew the CRN (Computer Reseller News) name license for nextmedia as they expand their business globally.

"This marks an exciting new chapter for the nextmedia team to launch a fresh, home-grown, local publication that will continue to serve and support the Australian channel community,” said Velvet-Belle Templeman, Publishing Director for B2B at nextmedia.

“We are so excited for the next stage of our channel journey and are proud to introduce techpartner.news.”

A New Name, The Same Trusted Team

The rebranding reflects a strategic move to decouple from the US-based TCC, while maintaining the core mission of delivering independent news and insights for Australian technology partners. Editorin-Chief William Maher emphasised the continuity of the publication’s dedication to its audience.

“We’ve been custodians of the CRN brand in ANZ for over 20 years, and we’re not changing our name lightly. But it’s time for us to take full control of our destiny.

"While our name is changing, everything else you rely on remains the same – our Fast50, Pipeline, Impact Awards, MSP Index program, Channel Meets events, and our trusted news service,” he said.

Maher also highlighted the publication’s extensive audience reach of over 30,000 industry professionals and the continued commitment to amplifying the voices of Australian technology partners.

A Fresh Identity with a Purpose

The techpartner.news logo reflects the publication’s commitment to its core stakeholders: tech partners, vendors, and distributors.

The three quotation marks in the logo represent these key groups and symbolise the technology ecosystem’s interconnectedness.

“We are looking forward to continuing our strong relationships with these businesses and others, including tech marketplaces, advisors, peer groups, financiers and others, under this new banner,” Templeman added.

“This rebrand also gives us the opportunity to better integrate with our end-user-focused sister publications, iTnews and Digital Nation, connecting tech partners with buyers and users.”

Expanding Partnerships and Editorial Offerings

The launch of techpartner.news also brings new industry collaborations, including channel Gurus Partnership - partnering with Brad Clarke’s Channel Gurus to provide expert driven business assessments, thought leadership content, and enhanced event experiences.

Benchmark Security Awards is a new collaboration between techpartner.news and iTnews to celebrate top CISOs as well as cybersecurity partners. In addition, iTnews and Digital Nation will continue to provide deep-dive editorial reports, including the State of Security, Cloud Covered, State of Data & AI, and Public Sector Tech reports, further strengthening nextmedia’s B2B offerings.
