National Gallery concludes creative pitch

Singapore's National Gallery has handed its creative mandate to BLKJ Havas following a pitch that commenced in late June. BLKJ Havas will work with the National Gallery Singapore to bring to life the Gallery's vision as a progressive art museum that continuously fosters and inspires a thoughtful, creative, and inclusive society.

The partnership will be led by BLKJ Havas general manager, Fiona Huang, newly promoted strategy director Skanda Lokeshwaran, executive creative director, Guilherme Machado and creative co-founder Khalid Osman.

"We are excited to embark on this journey with BLKJ Havas and believe that their understanding of our vision, passion for the arts and innovative approaches will be instrumental in helping us engage and captivate our diverse audiences," said Susie Wong, National Gallery Singapore’s chief marketing and experience officer. Wong added that selecting BLKJ Havas as the creative agency of record reflects National Gallery's belief in the power of insight-led, data-driven creativity. "We look forward to journeying together to inspire audiences with the art of Singapore and Southeast Asia,” she added.

Fiona Huang, general manager of BLKJ Havas, said: “It’s a real pleasure to collaborate with a beacon of art and creativity. Art, for us, transcends mere passion; it's interwoven into our very essence, as individuals and as a collective in the creative industry," she said.

"We're thrilled that our thinking and values resonated with the National Gallery Singapore team. We will do all we can to shine the spotlight on this icon and all that’s within - from what it stands for, to all the wondrous arts and experiences it offers. We are really looking forward to collaborating with the gallery and our fellow agency partners to supercharge the mutual growth that lies ahead together," she said.

National Gallery Singapore has been upping its exhibitions and features this year. In May, it launched a new exhibition designed to take visitors on a journey back in time through the history of video installation art.

Following the success of its Nam June Paik: The Future is Now exhibition, the free exhibition, titled See Me, See You: Early Video Installation of Southeast Asia, is a two-part series offering a fascinating look at the pivotal moments when video installation first emerged in the 1980s and 1990s.

Meanwhile, the National Arts Council (NAC) recently revealed its five-year masterplan for the arts and culture scene in Singapore with its Our SG Arts Plan.

To further boost the public’s attendance in the arts, NAC has collaborated with the National Heritage Board (NHB), Arts House Limited (AHL), National Gallery Singapore (NGS), and Esplanade to develop a one-stop digital platform for arts and culture content, Catch.
