Donevan Chew has joined Havas Immerse as chief creative officer, taking over from Kerry Khoo. Chew (pictured left) was most recently creative partner at Muma, a creative agency he joined two years ago. At Havas, Chew will continue to lead the strategic vision as well as bolster the creative offering in response to growing and diversified client needs in the market.
Meanwhile, Kevin Teh (pictured right) has joined Muma as creative director, effective 1 November 2022, taking over Chew's responsibilities. Teh will work alongside Muma's co-founder Chee-wee Choo.
Chew said: "I'm looking forward to working with the talented team in co-creating great ideas for our clients. Andrew, Kerry, and the management team have built a great place for talents to thrive. It’s time to harness that creativity to drive brands forward.”
Chew left Ogilvy in 2018 after five years to join BBDO, replacing VJ Anand who left the agency. BBDO began winding down its operations in April 2020 and officially shuttered in July. Prior to Ogilvy, he also worked at Leo Burnett and Grey.
Muma Malaysia was established in 2018 by Choo and Pang who have four decades of experience behind them working in international agencies in Malaysia and in agencies around Asia. The agency’s main clients include Celcom, Red Bull, Tai Sun and Vinda Group.
Andrew Lee, group MD at Havas Immerse, said, “We are focused on providing clients with a more agile and seamless experience on the back of great work by investing in the best talent. Chew’s creative repertoire will bolster our overall product and create positive momentum for the agency, and we are glad to have him join the Havas family." He also thanked Khoo for his contributions to Havas Immerse.
Meanwhile, Khoo also thanked Lee and all the team members for having faith and placing their trust in him these past years. "It has certainly been a memorable and fulfilling journey. I am proud to pass the torch to Chew, who I know for certain will drive the company to greater heights," he said. Khoo joined the team in 2017 after Immerse, the agency he co-founded with Jeffrey Tang, got acquired by Havas.
Separately Teh was previously Carsome's in-house creative lead and worked on regional campaigns. He has 14 years of advertising experience with global network agencies Dentsu Malaysia, McCann Worldgroup, Ogilvy and Saatchi & Saatchi. His appointment follows recent business wins including Boost, Dumex Dugro, Lazada, Maybank, Nature’s Wonder and Treatz.
Co-founder and MD Pang Li Li said: "Clients have taken a bold step to entrust us, a small and relatively new agency, with their brands and we fully intend to deliver impactful campaigns that will help their brand and business growth." A+M has reached out to Muma Malaysia for comment.
