At a time when Hong Kong's export-oriented economy is being shrouded by the uncertainty in the global economic environment, sales and marketing roles will continue to be in demand with considerable salaries this year, according to a new salary guide from HR consultancy Kelly Services. Thanks to this demand, marketing director level receive around HK$1.5 million a year while head of retail positions also take home at least HK$1 million a year.See below a full salary list for the sales and marketing category:[caption id="attachment_94904" align="alignnone" width="700"] Photo courtesy to Kelly Services.[/caption][caption id="attachment_94905" align="alignnone" width="700"] Photo courtesy to Kelly Services.[/caption]The report predicts that the continue growing big data trend in Hong Kong will drive up the demand for talent in certain marketing area such as digital marketing, CRM, data analyses, SEO and SEM.Demand for digital marketers and digital analytic managers in particular, is predicted to be hotly pursued. Hong Kong digital talents will be more sought after by regional headquaters and local offices; but experiences in mainland China-centric social media platforms will only be applicable in the China market. The high demand will result in a possible trend of job hopping between these roles, the study warns. Overall salary increment for sales and marketing professionals is estimated to be around 15% to 20% for job switch.Meanwhile, the financial industry will also see more new hires, particularly in the insurance sectors, for roles like "agency marketing" in search of professionals with event management and loyalty marketing experiences. However, affected by China's anti-corruption campaign and the relatively strong USD-pegged Hong Kong dollar, the growth of the Hong Kong luxury retail market will continue to slow down. New vacancies in this category will mainly be front-line staff with contract and temporary staff positions continually on the rise. That being said, the guide expects growth in tier-two luxury and mass retail; more brands in this sector will set up flagship stores in Hong Kong. The study also notes that the beauty sector will be outgrowing other retail sectors.Salary figures included in Kelly Services's 2014/15 Hong Kong Salary Guide are derived by combining market knowledge of Kelly Services’ senior recruitment professionals, with database of job placement data collected from its clients.
