Manulife Asia has named Dudley White (pictured) as head of communications for Asia. He will be based in Hong Kong and will oversee internal and external communications across Manulife’s Asia markets. He will work closely with teams at Manulife’s global and regional offices, as well as in the local businesses across Asia to further enhance Manulife’s trusted reputation.

White reports to Manulife’s chief marketing and experience design officer, Asia, Julie Nestor, and its global chief communications officer, Laura Vallis.  Dudley has a wealth of experience in media and communications in Australia, the UK and Asia, with a career spanning 25 years in in-house, agency and journalism roles.

His most recent position was director of external communications at AIA Group in Hong Kong. Prior to that, he headed up communications at various divisions of Commonwealth Bank, Australia’s largest bank.

Last year, Manulife named Nestor as its new chief marketing and experience design officer in Asia. Nestor has over 20 years of marketing experience across financial services, technology and hospitality industries and joins Manulife from Hilton International, where she was VP of marketing and GM of ecommerce for APAC.

Manulife has been hosting a whole slew of campaigns out of its Hong Kong market in recent times. In August this year, Manulife launched a new retirement solutions campaign, developed by dentsumcgarrybowen, highlighting how its suite of products can “make retirement your choice.” The campaign acknowledges that the resilient Hong Kong people can beat almost any challenge, but when it comes to retirement planning, help from the experts can go a long way.

Through the campaign, the new insight of making retirement a choice is leveraged to provoke the consumers to rethink and revisit their retirement plan. The campaign starred local celebrities Sandra Ng and Edan Lui, who are expected to add humor and light-heartedness to the serious topic of retirement. Ng and Lui play the destiny mentors from the Great Beyond where they monitor human’s progress to retirement. Occasionally they would head to Earth to drop a hint to those whose retirement plans may be derailed.
