Lion & Lion names new CEO following Casper Andersen's exit

Lion & Lion has appointed Fredrik Gumpel (pictured left) as chief executive officer, as Casper Andersen (pictured right) exits the agency. In his new role, Gumpel and the leadership team will be focusing on shaping the future of Lion & Lion to continue its growth across all markets.Gumpel was last helmed the role of chief commercial officer, and took on additional responsibilities for Lion & Lion’s two growth markets, Vietnam and Taiwan. Prior to joining Lion & Lion, Gumpel was the head of business development and launches for global biotech company Novozymes' F&B division. He brings with him vast experience in strategic development, commercial growth and execution, as well as a global perspective from working in Europe, US and Asia. He also had a five-year stint with Carlsberg Group, working in markets such as Denmark, Kazakhstan, Poland, France and Kuala Lumpur. He last held the position as business development manager based in Malaysia.Gumpel said he is excited about this new challenge and to take over from Andersen, who has "done an incredible job building a company with highly talented individuals" and a unique culture. "I see enormous potential and business opportunities waiting to be unlocked in the industry and the region, and I am confident that our strategic and integrated approach to digital marketing is as relevant as ever," he added.Koki Sato, president and CEO, Septeni Holdings said the appointment of Gumpel as the new CEO is based on his track record of delivering results, driving change and being a strong value-driven leader. "I am certain Gumpel will lead Lion & Lion successfully through a time of change and deliver on the long-term strategy, values and financial results," he added.Departing CEO and co-founder Andersen said he is proud of what the team has created with Lion & Lion in just a handful of years. "I would like to thank everyone who has been part of the journey. I wish everyone at the company all the best, and I have no doubt that with Gumpel in charge, and the great team of Lions around him, the company will continue to roar in the future," he added.Lion & Lion currently has close to 200 employees with offices in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Taipei, and Ho Chi Minh City. Last week, Lion & Lion brought on board Jonathan Crawford as ECD overseeing Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Taiwan. According to Lion & Lion, the newly created role is a key part of the agency’s strategy to grow regional and local creative capabilities, and further strengthen its position across Asia.
