Delivery and logistics provider Lalamove is joining Malaysia's ride-hailing game with the launch of Lalamove Ride.
Integrated within the existing Lalamove app, the company's "Ride" service is available for 24 hours a day for seven days of the week. On its website, the logistic providers said that the service will provide upfront fare estimates and that it has professional driver partners.
The fare of service, according to checks by A+M, will be based on factors such as traffic situation, order volume, availability of driver partners, applicable toles and more.
Don't miss: Lalamove expands into Japan
To access the new service, users will need to be logged in on the Lalamove app and click on the service tab "Ride". Users will then have to pick their pick-up and drop-off location, insert their payment details and click 'place order' to book a ride.
At the moment, the Ride service is only available within Klang Valley in Malaysia. It also available in Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand.
“Lalamove’s new ride-hailing services address the transportation challenges faced by commuters in Malaysia’s Klang Valley, such as lengthy delays during peak times, as well as exposure to heavy rain and sweltering heat in the wet seasons”, said Jane Teh, managing director of Lalamove Malaysia when A+M reached out.
“We aim to transform the daily commute and provide more convenient options for everyone. In addition to benefiting our users, this new service also creates more earning opportunities for our driver partner community," added Teh.
This is just one of Lalamove's many new initiatives. Earlier in August this year, the delivery and logistics provider launched its first base in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, as part of its global expansion.
This comes as Lalamove sees Japan as a strategically important market, offering a stable economy and infrastructure, and a community that expects and deserves high-quality service, according to Gary Hui, head of driver operations for Lalamove.
In the Japanese market, Lalamove will continue to empower local businesses and delivery partners with fast, affordable and reliable delivery services.
The service will begin in Tokyo's 23 wards and will be expanded to other areas in due course.
