The state of Johor is reportedly introducing a "super lane" to provide more ease of doing business in the Johor-Singapore special economic zone (JS-SEZ).

Johor chief minister Onn Hafiz Ghazi reportedly said that the Johor super lane (JSL) will standardise processes and improve ease of doing business.

This is in line with the implementation of the JS-SEZ.

The lane is also part of the Invest Malaysia Facilitation Centre Johor (IMFC-J), which acts as a one-stop facilitation centre involving government agencies and local authorities, he added, reported The Star.

The business licenses could also be issued in one hour after the applicants produce their certificate of completion and compliance, the minister explained.

Onn reportedly said the JSL is a manifestation of the existing Kulai fast lane (KFL) initiative, which has become the benchmark for other local councils in the state as well as states in Melaka and Selangor.

Besides that, a JS-SEZ select committee will be formed, involving bi-partisan assemblymen, to study its effectiveness and propose improvements that can be taken to ensure that the zone can benefit the people, Onn reportedly added.

In addition, Johor could reportedly adopt a 4.5-day work week in the future.

Currently, the state government is improving its productivity and service delivery systems through various initiatives, such as strengthening its digital services.

Onn reportedly said that the state is expected to record more than RM2billion in revenue this year. This marks the highest in the state's history.

Meanwhile, earlier in September, Onn reportedly unveiled plans to streamline business procedures and make the state more attractive to investors.

He added that Forest City, an integrated residential development and private town in Johor, was the first to house an investment center outside Kuala Lumpur, reported New Straits Times

The center aims to ease the processes for businesses to establish businesses in Johor, said Onn. It is also part of a broader effort to position the Malaysian state as a key investment hub.

The business reforms come as infrastructure upgrades are underway to support the development of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
