How Lalamove HK extends 'Deliver Care' spirit to pets in need with local NGO

Lalamove Hong Kong has joined hands with local NGO Home of Homeless Dogs to introduce a pet adoption event on 29 October to give strays a chance to seek new homes.

This comes as part of Lalamove’s “Make a Pawfect Move” campaign that aims to encourage Lalamove users in Asia and Latin America to spread their love for pets in need. The campaign starts running from October 2023, done in partnership with 10 non-profit animal welfare organisations and pet shelters globally on the Lalamove Rewards platform to encourage its members to support the cause by donating their LalaPoints.

To extend Lalamove’s Deliver Care initiative in the Hong Kong market, Lalamove also hopes to better the lives of abandoned dogs at Home of Homeless Dogs with donations.

This idea of this initiative was also built on the rise of the pet economy, as there is a growing number of Hong Kong residents who love to keep cats and dogs as pets, and the number of pet or animal facilitates is increasing in society as well.

According to government data in 2018, around 242,000 households were keeping dogs or cats, representing 9.4% of all households in Hong Kong, while the total number of inclusive parks for pets managed by the government will be over 170.

To be held at Hooman by the Sea in West Kowloon Cultural District, the initiative aims to extend Lalamove’s passion to the pet community in Hong Kong, supporting rescued animals and their shelter “paw-rents” who pour their hearts into keeping the groups running, according to Kristie Cheung, head of marketing communications, Lalamove HK.

The event has also leveraged online-to-offline cross-promotion to engage a wider audience, including leveraging its loyalty programme Lalamove Rewards to encourage members to donate points as donation to the NGO; its owned social channels including website, social media to help promote and spread words about the puppies waiting for adoption.

Meanwhile, offline presence at the Hooman by the Sea venue with Lalamove’s branding elements with cross-branded products will also be leveraged.

April, the founder of Home of Homeless Dogs, said, "We are delighted that Lalamove is willing to contribute to the issue of stray dogs and pet abandonment. Hong Kong people are very caring and have been supporting Home of Homeless Dogs’ efforts to help stray dogs.”

“On average, our organisation successfully secures homes for over a hundred stray dogs per year. We invite everyone to donate and continue supporting the medical, food, and housing needs of stray dogs. We also hope people will come join our adoption day event, co-organised with Lalamove, to help these furry friends find loving homes,” she added.
