Each year Marketing magazine undertakes a significant research project to discover the media preferences of Hong Kong’s top marketers.

The aim of the Media Benchmarking Survey is pretty simple: to understand which media platforms marketers look to for advertising solutions across digital, outdoor, TV, radio and print platforms.

We ask respondents to name the magazine, newspaper, TV station, digital platform or OOH groups they would use to target consumers across key industry verticals – luxury, local business and finance, news and current affairs, property, travel and consumer electronics.

This issue we highlight the top media platforms in each category across magazines and newspapers.

WOMEN'S

1. Cosmopolitan

Cosmopolitan Hong Kong Cover 2014

Cosmopolitan takes home the gold award in the Women’s category for the fourth consecutive year. Published by SCMP Group’s custom publishing division, SCMP Hearst, the monthly print magazine has been in Hong Kong for more than 30 years. Its sister publication CosmoGIRL! ceased to print its magazine to focus on its digital version in September.

《Cosmopolitan》連續四年蟬聯女士雜誌組別的金獎。由南華早報集團旗下的SCMP Hearst出版,該月刊在香港擁有超過30年歷史。其姊妹雜誌《CosmoGIRL!》從九月起停止出版印刷雜誌,專注提供網上版本。

2. ELLE Hong Kong

ELLE Hong Kong Cover 2014

Bagging silver in the Women’s category this year is ELLE Hong Kong, also published by SCMP Hearst. The magazine also publishes editorial supplements, ELLE Trend Book and ELLE Luxe, and spin-off titles, ELLE Accessories, ELLE Wedding and ELLE Decoration. ELLE was first published in France in 1945, but the Hong Kong edition of the magazine is only 27 years old.

同屬SCMP Hearst出版的《ELLE Hong Kong》贏得女士雜誌組別的銀獎。該雜誌亦出版副刊《ELLE Trend Book》及《ELLE Luxe》,以及《ELLE Accessories》、《ELLE Wedding》及《ELLE Decoration》。《ELLE Hong Kong》創刊於1945年法國,香港版雜誌僅27年歷史。

3. JESSICA

Jessica Hong Kong Cover 2014

Monthly magazine JESSICA takes home the bronze in the Women’s category for 2014. Owned by South China Media, the print magazine covers celebrity, fashion, beauty, lifestyle and shopping news, with spin-off titles, JESSICA Dream Wedding and JESSICA Baby. Its digital edition also features a blog and an online video channel.

月刊《旭茉JESSICA》榮獲2014年女士雜誌組別的銅獎。屬南華傳媒集團旗下,該雜誌的內容涵蓋名人專訪、時裝、美容、時尚生活及購物指南,並出版副刊《JESSICA Dream Wedding》及《JESSICA Baby》。其網站亦設有網誌及網上影片頻道。

1. Next

Next Magazine Hong Kong 2014

Not much has changed in this year’s News and Current Affairs (Local) ranking. Next Media Group’s Next magazine continues to stay top as the most popular local news and lifestyle title in town. According to its 2014 report, the magazine had a readership of 593,000, achieving ad revenue of HK$183.9 million, a decrease of 11.2%.

今年本地時事新聞雜誌組別的排名未見變動。本地最受歡迎的新聞及生活雜誌、壹傳媒集團旗下的《壹週刊》繼續穩坐冠軍寶座。根據其2014年的報告指,該雜誌的讀者人數達593,000,廣告收益達1.839億港元,下跌11.2%。

2. East Week

East Week Hong Kong Cover 2014

Published by Sing Tao Magazine Group, East Week is a local magazine focused on current affairs and entertainment news in the region. According to Sing Tao News Corp’s interim results for 2014, advertising revenues during the first half of the year declined because of lower demand for cosmetics and luxury goods. The publication has employed cost controls to keep the business running.

星島雜誌集團出版的《東周刊》專門提供區內時事及娛樂新聞。根據星島新聞集團2014年中期報告指,由於美容化妝品及奢侈品的需求下降,首半年的廣告收入亦隨之減少,該雜誌採取成本控制以維持業務正常運作。

3. CUP

CUP Cover Hong Kong 2014

Targeting young business talents, monthly magazine CUP has been focusing on high-end lifestyle and urban culture in the city since its launch more than 10 years ago. Published by TOM Group, CUP is available mainly in mainstream bookstores and selected Circle K convenience stores.

以年輕商務人才為目標,創辦超過10年的月刊《茶杯雜誌》以高端生活享受及都市文化為主要內容。由TOM集團出版,《茶杯雜誌》在主要書報攤及指定Circle K便利店發售。

 

LUXURY

1. Hong Kong Tatler

Hong Kong Tatler Cover 2014

Hong Kong Tatler seizes gold for the second consecutive year in the Luxury category. Owned by Edipresse Media, the Hong Kong edition of the magazine was redesigned along with all Tatler magazines in the region this spring. Other Tatler titles are available in the Singapore, China, Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines markets.

《Hong Kong Tatler》衛冕豪華雜誌組別的金獎。屬Edipresse Media集團旗下,香港版雜誌於今年春天隨區內所有《Tatler》雜誌一同進行重新設計。其他《Tatler》雜誌於新加坡、中國、馬來西亞、泰國及菲律賓市場發行。

2. Prestige

Prestige Hong Kong Cover 2014

Crowned silver in the Luxury category this year is Prestige published by Hubert Burda Media Hong Kong, a subsidiary of the German media conglomerate Hubert Burda Media. Local editions of the print magazine are also published in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. Its digital version features the online video channel Prestige TV.

今年豪華雜誌組別的銀獎由德國布爾達傳媒集團子公司香港布爾達傳媒旗下的《Prestige》奪得。該雜誌亦於新加坡、馬來西亞、印尼及泰國出版,其網站設有網上影片頻道Prestige TV。

3. Luxury Insider

Luxury Insider takes bronze in the Luxury category this year. Previously owned by WhiteWave Media Group, the magazine was acquired by SPH Magazines in September. Among the topics it covers are sports cars, watches, jewellery, dining, travel, beauty and fashion, luxury, technology, real estate and furnishings, arts and culture, and yachting.

《Luxury Insider》摘下本年度豪華雜誌組別的銅獎。原為WhiteWave Media Group旗下,於九月被SPH Magazines收購。該雜誌內容覆蓋跑車、鐘錶、珠寶、飲食、旅遊、時裝美容、奢侈品、科技、房地產及家具、藝術文化及遊艇等。

1. Milk

Milk Hong Kong 2014

Milk is the gold winner of the Youth category for the third year running. Founded in 2001, the weekly print magazine covers fashion, gadgets and arts and culture.

On the social media front, Milk’s Facebook page has garnered more than 160,000 followers and the magazine also has a presence on Sina Weibo and WeChat.

《Milk》連續三年成為年青人雜誌組別的金獎得主。創辦於2001年,該周刊的內容涵蓋時尚潮流、科技資訊及藝術文化。在社交媒體方面,《Milk》的Facebook專頁擁有超過160.000名追隨者,並且在新浪微博及微信設有帳戶。

2. FACE

Face Hong Kong Cover 2014

Rising up in the ranks, FACE magazine is crowned silver in the Youth category for 2014, up from third place last year.

Published by Next Media, the print magazine and its digital version specialise in entertainment news and features as well as reporting on the latest consumer technology products and digital gadgets.

《FACE》雜誌晉升一級,成為2014年青人雜誌組別的銀獎得主。這本由壹傳媒集團出版的刊物及其網站專門提供娛樂新聞及專題報導,以及最新消費電子產品及數碼設備的消息。

3. NM+ New Monday

New Monday Hong Kong Cover 2014

Down from second place last year, snagging bronze in the Youth category is NM+ New Monday, previously known as just New Monday. Owned by New Media Group, part of Emperor Group, the weekly print magazine covers topics such as entertainment, sports, fashion and lifestyle. On the digital front, the print magazine is complemented by a multimedia website and mobile app.

由去年第二位下跌一級,年青人雜誌組別的銅獎由《NM+ New Monday》奪得。該周刊前身為《新Monday》,由英皇集團旗下的新傳媒集團出版,內容包括娛樂、體育、時裝及時尚生活。在數碼方面,該雜誌提供多媒體網站及流動應用程式。

1. Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia

Travel and Leisure 2014

Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia takes home the gold award in the Travel (Regional) category this year. The print magazine is published by Media Transasia with its editorial team based in Thailand. Launched in Asia in 2007, it is distributed in 12 countries and regions, including Hong Kong and Macau.

《Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia》勇奪今年區域旅遊雜誌組別的金獎。該雜誌由Media Transasia出版,編輯團隊以泰國為基地,2007年於亞洲推出,在12個國家及地區發行,包括香港及澳門。

2. Business Traveller Asia Pacific

Business Traveller Cover 2014

Climbing from third place last year, Business Traveller Asia Pacific seizes silver in the Travel (Regional) category for 2014. Targeting high-end travellers, the magazine was launched in the UK in 1976. Today, it offers editions in 10 markets – the UK, US, China, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Denmark as well as the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa regions.

Wellness is the spa and resort magazine’s core focus and it covers travel destinations, wellness escapes, spa treatments, yoga retreats, and fashion and beauty. The print magazine is complemented by a website and mobile apps.

《Asiaspa》從去年第二位跌至今年區域旅遊雜誌組別的第三位。該雜誌專門提供全面的度假資訊,包括旅遊勝地、休閒享受、水療護理、瑜伽靜修、以及時尚美容等內容,並設有網站及流動應用程式。

1. 100Most

100most Cover 2014

Published every Thursday, 100Most is a local weekly magazine featuring the week’s 100 most-talked about subjects with a price tag of HK$10. The publication serves up bite-sized editorial content combined with strong visuals and a great sense of humour to appeal to young readers. To keep the content fresh, the magazine renews its layout every three weeks.

逢星期四出版,本地雜誌《100毛》每周刊登100條最注目話題,售價港幣10元。該雜誌提供精簡的編輯內容,並配合強烈的視覺效果及風趣幽默的筆風來吸引年輕讀者。為保持新鮮感,該雜誌的設計每三個星期轉變一次。

2. City Magazine

Jumping one spot to second this year, City Magazine is a long established local magazine as part of Modern Media Group. It covers a wide range of lifestyle topics, spanning fashion, food, home, architecture, design, video, music, arts and culture among other areas. The publication helped shape the emerging middleclass ideology of the 1980s.

上升一級至第二位的《號外》是現代傳播旗下一本歷史悠久的本地雜誌,內容涵蓋時裝、飲食、家居、建築、設計、影片、音樂、藝術及文化等生活主題。該雜誌塑造了80年代新興中產階層的意識形態。

3. Time Out

Time Out Hong Kong Cover 2014

The global publishing title has taken third place this year in the Lifestyle category. Apart from covering events and happenings in town, Time Out is also devoted to hosting events and activities with an aim to bring the city together. The brand has been paying extra attention on developing its digital platforms over the past few years. Delivering content online will be a key part in Time Out’s content strategy looking forward.

這本全球發行的刊物贏得今年時尚生活雜誌組別的銅獎。除報導城中活動及新聞外,《Time Out》亦專門舉辦不同活動以凝聚社會。該品牌過去數年專注發展其數碼平台,提供網上內容將 會是《Time Out》未來內容策略的重點。

1. U Magazine

U Magazine Hong Kong 2014

Crowned gold once again in the Travel (Local) category this year is U Magazine. Founded in 2005, it is published by the Hong Kong Economic Times.

The print magazine is split into three books, offering news on travel, dining and the coolest weekend hotspots. It also publishes its annual publication Cuisine Map targeting its foodie readers.

《U周刊》再次榮獲本地旅遊雜誌組別的金獎。成立於2005年,該雜誌由香港經濟日報集團出版,一書三冊,提供有關旅遊、飲食及周末節目指南,此外亦出版以美食愛好者為目標的年刊《Cuisine Map》。

2. Weekend Weekly

Weekend Weekly Cover 2014

The silver award in the Travel (Local) category for 2014 goes to Weekend Weekly. Published by New Media Group and founded in 1999, the print magazine covers travel, dining, shopping and leisure news. Its website has dedicated sections for readers interested in travelling to popular destinations in Japan, Taiwan and South Korea.

2014年本地旅遊雜誌組別的銀獎由《新假期》奪得。新傳媒集團於1999年創辦,該雜誌的內容覆蓋旅遊、飲食、購物及休閒資訊,其網站設有專為有興趣到日本、台灣及韓國旅遊熱點的讀者而設的專欄。

3. Hongkong Walker

Hong Kong Walker Cover 2014

Hongkong Walker comes third in the Travel (Local) category for the second consecutive year. Established in 2007, it is part of the Walker series of magazines offered by publisher Kadokawa Group, and the publisher of the Hong Kong magazine is Kadokawa Intercontinental Publishing. Its website features information about great travel destinations and special offers for travel within Japan, general knowledge and the latest trends in the country.

1. Home Journal

Home Journal is named the winner of gold in the Interior category for the second consecutive year. Launched in 1980, the bilingual English and Chinese monthly magazine covers interiors, latest product and design trends, creative people, trade secrets, design fairs and ideas for décor. It also publishes a directory of home stores and designers.

《美好家居》連續兩年獲選室內雜誌組別的金獎得主。創刊於1980年,該中英文雙語月刊的內容涵蓋室內設計、最新產品及設計趨勢、創作人、商業秘密、設計展覽及佈置概念,此外亦出版家居儲存倉及設計師名錄。

2. Perspective

Perspective Cover 2014

Bagging silver once again in 2014 is Perspective. Hitting its 15th birthday this month, the bilingual monthly magazine covers architectural, interior, product and graphic design. It is available as through its website Perspectiveglobal.com, as a monthly e-newsletter and on mobile. Annual sister publication Perspective+ features architectural firm profiles and the best works in the region and globally.

Today’s Living snatches bronze in the Interior category this year. Published by Press Mark Media, the monthly magazine covers cases of beautiful interiors in Hong Kong as well as design trends. Prominent among its digital offering is the HomeLive Video channel. Sister publications include monthly magazine New Property and eight annual supplements.

《今日家居》奪得今年室內雜誌組別的銅獎。由思滙媒體有限公司出版,該月刊的內容涵蓋香港出色室內設計例子及設計潮流。其主要網上服務為HomeLive影片頻道。其姊妹雜誌包括月刊《New Property》及八份副刊。

1. Smart Parents

Smart Parents Cover 2014

Given the prestigious title of the gold winner in the Parenting category this year is Smart Parents. Published by Sing Tao News Corporation, the weekly magazine covers hot topics for Hong Kong mums and dads, as well as offering practical guidance on parenting issues. Its Facebook page has garnered more than 29,000 followers.

榮登今年親子雜誌組別冠軍寶座的是《親子王》。由星島新聞集團出版,該周刊的內容涵蓋香港父母最關心的熱門話題,以及提供實用的親子育兒指南。其Facebook專頁擁有超過29,000名追隨者。

2. Baby Magazine

The silver award in the Parenting category goes to Baby Magazine. Launched in 1993 and owned by Pop Art Group, the monthly magazine covers pregnancy and parenting. Its official website offers a photo-sharing service where parents can share adorable baby photos and a short essay for a chance to get them published.

親子雜誌組別的銀獎得主是《Baby親子雜誌》。創刊於1993年,屬博藝集團旗下,該月刊的內容涵蓋懷孕及育兒資訊。其官方網站提供相片分享服務,讓父母們分享可愛的寶寶相片及發表短文。

3. Sunday Kiss

Sunday Kiss takes home bronze in the Parenting category for this year’s Magazine of the Year awards. The weekly magazine is owned by New Media Group and covers parenting, education, travel, cooking, home décor, digital gadgets and entertainment, as well as a look-book of baby photos and columns targeted at mothers.

《Sunday Kiss》奪得今年親子雜誌組別的銅獎。該周刊屬新傳媒集團旗下,內容涵蓋育兒、教育、旅遊、烹飪、家居佈置、數碼產品及娛樂,並設有嬰兒相冊及專欄,以媽媽讀者為目標。

1. TIME

Time-Cover-2014

TIME has stepped up to snatch gold this year, continuing to deliver breaking news and in-depth features to some 1.17 million people across Asia (ABC 2013) with a monthly circulation of 244,417 in Asia and 44,272 in Hong Kong (ABC 2013). Alongside the surge of mobile usage, its mobile uniques are up 224% YOY, while tablet uniques are also up 83%.

《時代雜誌》今年摘冠,繼續為亞洲117萬讀者(ABC 2013)提供新聞及專題報導。每月在亞洲的發行量為244,417份,而香港的發行量為44,272份(ABC 2013)。除流動用量激增外,其流動瀏覽率按年增長224%,而平板電腦瀏覽率亦上升83%。

2.The Economist

The Economist Cover 2014

The Economist has slipped slightly to second this year. Claiming to have more than four million readers across the globe, the weekly paper covers current affairs, science, technology and arts. The publication enjoyed a weekly circulation of 21,715 in Hong Kong during the second half of last year (ABC July-Dec 2013), while its website reported total unique visitors of 92,251, and page views of 359,378 (Omniture, March 2014).

《經濟學人》微跌一級至今年第二位。該周刊表示全球讀者人數超過400萬,內容涵蓋時事新聞、科學、科技及藝術等。該雜誌去年下半年在香港的每周發行量為21,715份(ABC July-Dec 2013),而其網站錄得總獨立訪客人數92,251,網頁瀏覽率為359,378(Omniture March 2014)。

3. Newsweek

This year marked a revolutionary year for Newsweek after its publisher IBT Media relaunched its print edition that had ceased in 2012. Before this, the current affairs magazine had been banking its business on digital which has a claimed subscription base of more than 400,000 across seven digital platforms.

2014年是《新聞週刊》革新的一年。2012年宣佈停刊,其出版商IBTMedia今年重新出版。在此之前,該時事雜誌經已將業務拓展至數碼領域,並表示七個數碼平台的訂閱人數超過400,000。

Up from second place last year, Ming Pao Weekly takes the number one spot in the Entertainment category in the Magazine of the Year awards. The weekly magazine covers movies, TV, music, pop culture, arts and culture in the form of short articles, columns and in-depth features, as well as profiling some of the latest key players in the entertainment industry.

《明報周刊》從去年第二位晉升至今年度娛樂雜誌組別榜首,內容涵蓋電影、電視、音樂、流行文化及藝術文化,以短文、專欄及專題文章形式報導,亦刊登娛樂圈熱門名人專訪。

2. Sudden Weekly

Sudden Weekly Cover 2014

Sudden Weekly drops from first place last year to second in the Entertainment category for 2014. Owned by Next Media, the print magazine covers entertainment, fashion, beauty and travel with a multimedia version online. It is sold along with its thinner sister publication Eat and Travel Weekly which uncovers hot new and existing dining hotspots around town.

《忽然1周》從去年第一位跌至今年第二位。屬壹傳媒旗下,該雜誌的內容包括娛樂、時裝、美容及旅遊,並配合多媒體網上版本。該雜誌隨書附送姊妹刊物《飲食男女》,發掘香港最新最潮的吃喝玩樂好去處。

3. Oriental Sunday

Oriental Sunday Cover 2014

Snagging bronze in the Entertainment category once again is Oriental Sunday, which is published by New Media Group. The print magazine’s main book covers entertainment news and gossip, while its supplements More and Sunday Kiss cover fashion and beauty, and parenting respectively. Its digital version features videos and polls for readers.

新傳媒集團出版的《東方新地》再次奪得娛樂雜誌組別的銅獎。該雜誌一書三冊,包括涵蓋娛樂新聞及名人軼事的主雜誌、時裝及美容副刊《More》、以及育兒小冊子《Sunday Kiss》。其網站為讀者提供影片及投票區。

 

BUSINESS (REGIONAL)

1. Bloomberg Businessweek

All rankings remain the same as last year in the regional business arena for 2014. Bloomberg Businessweek, a weekly title, part of the Bloomberg family, claimed to have a global circulation of more than 980,000 on a weekly basis, being available in more than 150 countries. Digital assets such as Bloomberg.com and Businessweek.com have secured more than 24 million unique visitors per month.

2014年區域時事新聞雜誌組別的排名跟上年保持不變。《彭博商業週刊》屬彭博通訊社旗下,表示每周在全球150多個國家的發行量超過980,000份,Bloomberg.com及Businessweek.com等數碼平台每月的獨立訪客人數超過2,400萬。

2. Fortune

Fortune

Taking second place is Fortune, a business title which enjoys a 23,385 circulation in Hong Kong (Asia HK ABC FY 2013), targeting 83% of senior management and 60% of C-suite professionals in Asia (BC Statement FY 2012 and Fortune Survey 2013). Published by Time Asia, Fortune is devoted to hosting events from leadership summits to finance conferences to deliver educational business-related news to readers.

銀獎由《財富》雜誌奪得。該商業雜誌在香港的發行量達23,385份(Asia HK ABC FY 2013),以亞洲83%高級管理層及60%管理層人員(BC Statement FY 2012及Fortune Survey 2013)為目標。由Time Asia出版,《財富》雜誌一直致力舉辦領袖峰會及財經會議等活動,為讀者提供具教育性的商業資訊。

3. Forbes

The Forbes magazine’s iPad app, which was launched last year, has received a claimed 1.2 million downloads. The business publisher also has the luxury lifestyle title, ForbesLife magazine, along with a new website, ForbesLife.com, launched earlier this year. With a vast footprint spanning China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam, Forbes Asia claims it has a combined circulation of 500,000 in the region.

《福布斯》雜誌去年推出iPad應用程式,表示到目前為止已吸引120萬次下載。該出版商亦出版豪華生活雜誌《ForbesLife》,並於今年初設立新網站ForbesLife.com。《福布斯》雜誌的業務遍佈中國、印度、印尼、日本、韓國、泰國及越南,並表示《福布斯亞洲》的總發行量達500,000份。

 

CONSUMER ELECTRONICS

1. e-zone

Retaining its crown in the Consumer Electronics category is e-zone, which includes online forums, digital products and the magazine. It is published by the Hong Kong Economic Times and aims to bring readers the hottest computer, digital and technology news. Priced at HK$15, the weekly magazine comprises three sections: PC, digital and DIY Zone.

Under the Sing Tao Magazine Group, PC Market is a weekly made out of two titles: PCM and Biz.IT. It has been delivering IT news and digital products information since 1993. In June, the magazine added a new title PCM V+ to its family, which aims to explore innovative digital lifestyle and news for the latest digital products to readers.

Enjoying more than 160,00 virtual stores, PChome is a massive e-commerce platform in Taiwan. Under PChome Online Inc, PChome also serves as an information portal carrying a wide range of digital services such as web albums, news channels, online games as well as funding information, the stock market channel, and a virtual exchange centre. PChome Online claims to have a membership base of 14 billion.

Economic Digest

With a weekly readership of 111,000 (Nielsen Media Index), Economic Digest has secured second spot in this year’s local business category. Apart from print publishing, the economic weekly has also engaged in the digital business recently, running several thematic websites that sync with mobile and tablet applications.

每周讀者人數達111,000(尼爾森媒介指標)的《經濟一週》穩守今年本地商業雜誌組別的第二位。除印刷出版外,該財經周刊最近亦進軍數碼領域,推出多個與手機及平板電腦應用程式同步的專題網站。

The Hong Kong Economic Times’ iMoney is packed with three books, including Focus, Winner and China. Established in 2007, the finance weekly aims to feature news and information on investment and wealth management across Hong Kong and the Mainland. Apart from magazine publishing, iMoney has also developed a presence on digital and mobile devices.

Darizi

Darizi snatches gold for the second consecutive year in the Wedding category. Founded in 2007, the monthly magazine covers luxury wedding planning news in Hong Kong and mainland China building up to its Chinese namesake, which roughly translates into “the big day”. The publication is also available on PC and mobile, and has partnered with brands to hold wedding exhibitions.

《大日子》連續兩年在婚嫁雜誌組別奪冠。創刊於2007年,該月刊提供香港及中國內地豪華婚禮策劃最新資訊。該雜誌可透過電腦及流動通訊設備瀏覽,並與多個品牌合作舉辦婚禮展覽。

Breaking into the top three to claim silver in the Wedding category for 2014 is Cosmopolitan Bride. The Cosmopolitan spin-off title is published by SCMP Hearst in June and October every year. In terms of wedding planning news, the magazine covers dresses, accessories, hair and make-up, banquets, gifts, décor and honeymoon destinations.

ELLE Wedding drops to third place for 2014 from second place last year. Among the topics covered by the magazine are celebrity wedding news, bridal fashion and expert tips. Its mobile-friendly website features a wedding planner that helps brides-to-be set budgets, roles for the wedding party and note down inspirations.

Esquire

Esquire has secured first place in the Men category for the fourth year running. The monthly magazine covers men’s fashion, watches, lifestyle, food, gadgets and automobiles as well as publishing profiles. After SCMP Hearst acquired the magazine last year, it launched its digital version EsquireHK.com in August, including video channel Esquire TV.

Claiming silver in the Men category for 2014 is men's uno. Published by Chic Group, the monthly magazine covers topics such as fashion, arts and culture, travel, movies, grooming, watches, gadgets and automobiles. Its website features video channel men’s unoTV. The publication is also available in Taiwan, mainland China and Malaysia.

3. JMEN

JMEN is named the winner of bronze in the Men category this year. The monthly magazine is published by South China Media Group. To celebrate its 5th anniversary, the monthly magazine published a special Joymaster edition profi ling 12 men with creative talents in realms such as fi lm, photography, singing and boxing.

METHODOLOGY

HOW DID WE ACHIEVE THIS?

The media rankings were derived from questions in Marketing Research’s annual Media Spend Benchmarking Survey. Marketing Research employed an online questionnaire and surveyed its database of client advertisers and marketing services agency professionals. All answers given by respondents were considered by Marketing when finalising the rankings.

結果如何產生?

「年度最佳媒體」排名是根據Marketing Research年度媒體支出基準調查的結果而定。Marketing Research邀請其數據庫內的市場人員(廣告客戶) 及市場推廣服務公司人員回答一份網上問卷,然後《Marketing》根據他們的答案敲定最佳媒體名單。

QUALITY RECIPIENTS AND RESPONDENTS

A total of 415 respondents participated in the Media Spend Benchmarking Survey. Genuine advertising decision-makers and influencers across key agency-using industries were well represented as were agency professionals from various marketing services. More than 80% of client advertiser-side respondents were manager-level decision-makers and above, with 10% from the most senior ranks of client advertisers – CEOs, MDs or GMs – and another 34% were VPs or director-level marketers.

Twenty per cent of the respondents from the agency side were CEOs, MDs or GMs, 35% were marketing personnel, while 25% were sales personnel. The remaining 20% were operations, creative and media personnel. Advertisers from major and local international banks, FMCG companies, property and construction, IT and telecommunication firms, as well as those from travel and tourism companies participated in the survey. Agency professionals across the marketing services spectrum were also well represented.

本次「媒體支出基準調查」共有415人參與,調查結果充分反映了廣告客戶的真正決策人、以及來自各類市場推廣服務的從業員意向。回答問卷的廣告客戶中有超過80%屬經理級或以上決策人,10%屬最高級別的廣告客戶領導層,包括行政總裁、執行董事或總經理,另有34%是市場部副總裁或總監。

在回答問卷的廣告代理中,20%是行政總裁,35%是市場推廣人員,25%是銷售人員,餘下的20%是執行人員、創作人及媒體人員。受訪廣告客戶來自各個主要行業,涵蓋本地與國際銀行、快速消費品公司、地產發展及承建商、資訊科技與電訊公司、以及旅遊業界等,結果也反映了各類別市場推廣服務的從業員意見。
