As we say goodbye to the craze-filled Year of the Dragon, the next limbless zodiac slithers into 2025 with more questionable tricks up its metaphorical sleeves. Will the Year of the Snake shed some positive light on the marketing industry this year?
But before we dissect what is in store for marketers, let's see what the global economy of 2025 is looking like. The global economy is poised for a transformative year marked by significant shifts and challenges. According to reports, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) noted that the nation's real GDP growth is projected to range between 1% and 3%. This cautious outlook reflects broader global uncertainties, including ongoing trade tensions and geopolitical risks.
Deloitte's 2025 economic outlook highlights several critical factors shaping the global landscape. Inflation, labor markets, and supply chains remain pivotal concerns, with new policies expected to influence economic resilience. Additionally, Deloitte predicts a surge in generative AI adoption, which will drive technological advancements and reshape industries.
In Chinese culture, the snake harbors characteristics of wisdom, intelligence and charm. The reptile also symbolises transformation and creativity, which is fitting for marketers going into the new year. Last year, MARKETING-INTERACTIVE sat down with some industry professionals to find out what we can expect in the years to come. Majority touched on the importance of human authenticity in a market where artificial intelligence (AI) is prominent, emphasising the need for marketers to harness the strength of creativity to capture audiences.
With AI revolutionising the marketing industry, offering both opportunities and challenges for professionals, this year marketers must go beyond using it at a surface level to really drive productive outcomes. In fact, AI has become an advancement in technology that is unavoidable with 81% of marketers reporting that their organisation is currently using GPT models such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s AI Gemini, formerly Bard.
More specifically, 55% of marketers say their organisation’s adoption of GenAI can best be described as partially integrated across selected marketing functions. 71.4% of respondents also said that AI capabilities are most extensively utilised by content teams, underscoring the pivotal role AI plays in content generation.
As we move further into 2025, the marketing industry is set to continue its trajectory of growth and innovation, driven by AI technologies, creative expressions and an ever-increasing focus on customer experience. With that in mind, it never hurts to get a head start on preparing for the new year, so let's take a look at how your zodiac sign fairs in the Year of the Wood Snake based on forecasts taken from the Yuan Zhong Siu website.
