Hong Kong startup Boxful is acquiring Yan Yan Movers, a household name in moving services with over 60 years of history, to launch international relocation services. The two companies aim to create industry-wide synergies and disrupt the logistics ecosystem with technology and provide accessible, quality and one-stop logistics services in Hong Kong.
Yan Yan Movers officially launched its one-stop moving and storage services in Hong Kong in 2019 to fulfill the needs of modern users who prefer to partially move belongings to their overseas destination, while storing items of sentimental value in Hong Kong. According to Yan Yan, today’s customers demand flexibility that Yan Yan can provide as a one-stop solution, as opposed to the traditional “all or nothing” dilemma that users are forced to face when moving.
In line with the fast-paced lifestyle in Hong Kong, the website of Yan Yan Movers has launched in its latest design a one-minute “Get a Quote” feature to enable customers to budget their move more efficiently. As Hong Kong users rush to file for emigration, efficiency is a priority that Boxful and Yan Yan Movers address by making their websites, WhatsApp, and hotline dedicated to providing fast and accurate full quotations, said a press statement from the two.
Meanwhile, Boxful provides door-to-door storage services in Hong Kong, Taipei, and Seoul. Launched by CEO and co-founder Norman Cheung and co-founder Carl Wu backed by a group of influential strategic investors from Asia in 2015, Boxful has since raised over US$26 million in funding from investors including the former financial secretary of Hong Kong Antony Leung Kam-chung.
In addition to storage services, Boxful has also launched Boxful Fulfillment since 2019 and is expanding its one-stop logistics network within the rapidly growing e-commerce ecosystem. Followed by the acquisition of Yan Yan Movers in the same year, Boxful continues to find opportunities in disrupting traditional logistics with tech and refined services in order to fill market gaps that are under-served or inefficient.
There are also self-serve mini-storage locations all over Hong Kong tailored to users who prefer to access items in person. Boxful’s system also helps users manage items online, so users overseas can continue to manage their storage in Hong Kong remotely. In addition to moving, Yan Yan Movers also provides a suite of relocation services including pet relocation, packing and delivery, customs clearance, and insurance to streamline relocation experience with reassurance and ease.
