In celebration of the Lunar New Year and its 120th anniversary, Hong Kong Tramways has rolled out a series of initiatives including unveiling a music video, which was recreated from local artist Sam Hui’s classic song "The Arrival of God of Fortune" (財神到).

The music video, named 「人人到」, ensembles an “all-star” cast from Hong Kong Tramways, led by Paul Tirvaudey, managing director of Hong Kong Tramways, together with over 40 representatives from all departments as performers and singers to celebrate the cherished festival together with Hong Kong people.

Aside from the cheerful faces, the music video also features a variety of tram models, including the red and green antique party tram and the colourful new CNY tram, designed by stationery and lifestyle design brand All Things Bright and Beautiful, featuring "Ding-Ding Dragon" and "Ding-Ding Cat" running side-by-side.

This tram adds a touch of greenery to the city with its body adorned with characters from various professions. Both adults and children as well as Ding Ding Cat, are accompanied by a flying cake, as Tramways is marching to its 120th birthday.

Another tram model was painted by French urban artist Tim Marsh, who makes a sensational return after four years to the Whitty Street Tram Depot with his mastery graffiti. Embracing the theme of the upcoming Year of the Dragon, he highlights a vivid "dragon" on the starboard. The lifelike dragon totem carries the spirit of a soaring dragon, a jumping tiger, and a leaping fish over the dragon gate.

Hong Kong's trams are known as city landmarks with a rich history, as well as “moving billboards”, displaying various luminous symbols. This music video, created by Omelette Digital and 3JBK Production, is another initiative of the household brand to create emotional resonance with locals and has been broadcast on social media and YouTube to spread joy among Hong Kong's general public during the Lunar New Year holidays.

“With 120 years of strong local roots, we are in the perfect place to shed light on the beauty of this city. We are proud to be one of the symbols of Hong Kong's heritage as well as part of everyday life for our passengers,” said Nixon Cheung, head of commercial and brand, Hong Kong Tramways.

“Along with different initiatives and partnerships, this campaign shows Hong Kong Tramways' commitment to bringing inspiration and happiness to the public, while at the same time preserving our rich history,” Cheung added.

Additionally, the widely welcomed Visa fare discount of HK$1 will be extended until 31 July this year. Tramways hopes to continue collaborating with various businesses and communities throughout the year to provide safe, comfortable, and affordable travel experiences to the public.

With support from the Hong Kong Productivity Council's Smart Traffic Fund, the "Advanced Intelligent Control Management and AI Optimisation" is under development. Tramways aims to fully implement it in the tram fleet by the end of this year. This system enables real-time tracking of tram locations and predictive analytics, making the up-to-date operational information more accessible and facilitating motormen deployment.

On the other hand, Tramways will closely cooperate with the sister company, tramplus, to develop STEAM courses based on Tramways' accumulated craftsmanship, combined with advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and 3D modelling, so as to meet the future needs.
